Whether you love or hate Family Guy, you have to admit that their work spoofing Star Wars (with the blessing of a one George Lucas, of course) has been pretty fantastic thus far.

It’s already been stated that they would not be doing the prequel movies of the mega-franchise, so all that’s left to be done is release the third and final spoof of Return of the Jedi. The final installment is called Family Guy: It’s A Trap!, and it will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on December 21. And to help get you excited, you can get your first look at the trailer right now!

Unlike the first two chapters of this epic animated parody, characters from all of creator Seth MacFarlane‘s shows will be used, including American Dad and The Cleveland Show. You’ll catch a few of said characters making brief appearances throughout the trailer.

Use the Force to bring some tasty treats closer, then head on over to the other side to check out the trailer for Family Guy: It’s A Trap! immediately!

Coming as a surprise to very few people, Adult Swim has started airing The Cleveland Show “Coming Soonish” spots between programming signaling that it will be heading to the network in syndication.

According to a un-sourced statement on Wikipedia, Turner Broadcasting has inked a deal to air the program on both Adult Swim and TBS, thus joining the other two Seth MacFarlane shows Family Guy and American Dad.

We first predicted that Cleveland Brown would be joining the network earlier this year when it was released that Adult Swim would be gaining an additional hour into prime time. [READ: Adult Swim To Start An Hour Earlier In 2011]

family guy something something something dark sideFamily Guy Presents: Something Something Something Dark Side
DVD | Blu-ray
Directed by Dominic Polcino
Starring Seth MacFarlane, Seth Green, Alex Borstein, Mila Kunis, Patrick Warburton, Mike Green
20th Century Fox Home Entertainment
Release Date: December 22, 2009

Family Guy is at it again with their second visit to the Star Wars universe in Something Something Something Dark Side. After they successfully spoofed Star Wars: A New Hope in humorous but faithful fashion with Blue Harvest, we could hardly wait for more to come around. Now that we have this cartoon version of Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back available to us, the trilogy spoof is almost complete!

The best thing about these movies is that everyone can enjoy them. Not everyone is a Star Wars fanatic, so this is a hilarious way for them to see the world and the characters, even if it’s absurdly different from the way that George Lucas created them to be. For those of you non-Star Wars fans, this second film in the series takes place a few years after the Rebel Alliance blew the hell out of the Emperor and Darth Vader’s precious Death Star. Now the Empire is hot on their tail with plans for revenge. After Luke Skywalker comes into his own as a Jedi with intense training by Jedi Master Yoda, he hurries to a showdown with Vader after the evil Sith springs a trap on Han Solo, Princess Leia, and his other companions.

Head on over to the not-so-dark other side for more and to check out a trailer from this new movie.

SDCC 09: MacFarlane Shows Off ‘Family Guy’ Spin-Off ‘The Cleveland Show’

On Saturday at the San Diego Comic-Con, fans of Seth MacFarlane‘s Family Guy were shown footage of the show’s first spin-off, titled The Cleveland Show. The show follows Peter Griffin’s friend Cleveland Brown, as he and his son Cleveland Jr. move back to their home town. Once back, Cleveland rekindles his relationship with his high school sweetheart, who has two kids of her own.

The show will premiere on September 27th at 8:30pm EST. Judging from the footage shown, I’m still not sold on the series. I’m a pretty big fan of Family Guy, but I was surprised to see that they would be using Cleveland as a character on his own. The show had decent jokes at times, but on the whole it left me pretty cold. Who knows, maybe the good jokes were left out of the previews shown, and it could just be that the creators haven’t found the right tone for the show yet, but Fox had better hope viewers enjoy it more than I did, since they have already picked up the show for a second season, before even one episode has aired. So far, 22 episodes have already been made, and we’ll have to see if they all get shown on the air, or if they just have a lot of episodes to include on the eventual DVD.
