‘Batman Vs. Superman’ Gets Delayed To May 2016

Batman vs Superman

Summer 2015 just lost one of its biggest tickets. The Man of Steel sequel we all insist on referring to as Batman vs. Superman (even though that will probably not be its final name) has been moved out of its original July 17, 2015 release date and rescheduled for May 2016.

The surprising move may or may not have anything to do with star Ben Affleck recently suffering a leg injury that threatened to delay the start of filming for six weeks. However, Warner Bros. insists that the release shift has more to do with the need of director Zack Snyder to get the script in some kind of fighting shape, “allowing the filmmakers time to realize fully their vision, given the complex visual nature of the story.”

Are ‘Batman Vs. Superman’ and ‘Justice League’ Being Filmed Back-To-Back?

Justice League

Recently Dwayne Johnson met with executives at Warner Brothers about his potential involvement in a top secret DC Comics movie project that may go into production some time this year. According to an unnamed source for Latino Review that film could very well be the studio’s eternally gestating Justice League, which was originally supposed to be filming for a summer 2015 release before the lack of a decent script compelled the studio to shut down development and shift their resources over to a Man of Steel sequel that would have Superman (Henry Cavill) going head-to-head with Warners’ other big DC moneymaker Batman (Ben Affleck).

The word is now going around Hollywood that both the doubly eponymous Batman vs. Superman (name subject to change) and Justice League will be filmed back-to-back and be released within a year of each other. Supposedly this is because the studio wants to capitalize as much as possible on the filming time they have with the busy Affleck, Cavill, and Johnson.

Sweded Trailers For 2013’s Biggest Blockbuster Films

Pacific Rim

Sometimes you can gauge the audience interest in a potential tentpole blockbuster movie simply by observing the great lengths certain individuals will go to in order to honor those big-budget entertainments, or even burn them in mocking effigy.

Whenever a new trailer for one of these eagerly-anticipated features is released you can always expect there to be a “sweded” version or two uploaded to YouTube or Vimeo within days. For those of you unfamiliar with this term, “sweded” basically means a group of amateur filmmakers get together with whatever resources they can scrounge up and make their own identical version of the slicker Hollywood trailers. Some of them often use shots from the real trailers to plug in gaps in their dollar bin attempts, but the makers of the best sweded trailers will recreate every component themselves, from the visual effects to the shot composition to even the bloody generic music that underscores these 2.5-minute blasts of money shots.

Submitted for your approval and enjoyment are sweded trailers for 8 of the year’s biggest blockbusters, like Star Trek Into Darkness, Pacific Rim, Iron Man 3, Man of Steel, and more. Depending on your perspective you might find some of these homemade previews better than the genuine articles. Even if you don’t, you have to admit they are pretty amusing.

The Man Of Steel Gets Put On Money In New Superman 75th Anniversary Coin Set

Superman Coin

Is it just me or does it seem like the world has finally embraced comics as a legitimate source of entertainment? It’s nice to see geekdom getting some love from the powers that be. For instance, the Royal Canadian Mint has issued seven truly kick ass coins to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of Superman.

The Man of Steel first appeared in Action Comics #1 in 1938 and has been one of the most popular superheroes ever since. Through the decades the character has changed many times, sometimes slightly and sometimes drastically. But in every incarnation he has been one of the most recognizable icons ever to grace the pages of a comic book. And I have to say, it’s pretty cool that Canada has decided to commemorate this American hero with his own line of coins, many of them limited in quantity.

Batman Vs. Superman

Greetings, true believers. BAADASSSSS! has returned with the second long-awaited edition of The 10 Best Unproduced Comic Book Movie Scripts.

If you haven’t checked out my bloated, unwieldy nerdgasm of an introduction to the series as well as a complete week-by-week breakdown of clues to each entry on this list you may do so here.

For this sophomore entry in my little venture through territory well-traveled and much more elegantly chronicled I have chosen a script that is bound to elicit its fair share of dissenting opinions. I am prepared for this. I have also read this particular script and highly believe that, while it may not have not been close to perfection – a trait it shares with every entry on this list – it certainly held great potential.
