Golden Globe Nominees Revealed; What Do You Think?

Globes

The list of nominees for the 67th annual Golden Globe Awards were announced earlier today, and you can check out the whole list below.

The Globes aren’t the most respected of all awards ceremonies (not that many…if ANY are these days), but they are good for one important thing: Academy Awards potentials. Many of the nominees and winners of Golden Globes will go on to land Oscar nominations as well, so movie fans watch with sharp eyes.

Just a glance over the list of nominees, you can see why so many people have trouble taking awards like this seriously. There’s a select group of movies that feel like they’re given these nods just because of their status and not due to their quality. These movies could in fact be the very best of the best this year — I do not know for sure — but when you see films like Nine which hasn’t even been released yet getting so many nominations, you scratch your head, especially knowing how much love musicals get JUST for being musicals. Or maybe even Avatar grabbing a massively unexpected nod in the Best Motion Picture Dramas category. Hopefully the majority of these are indeed the most deserving of the honor, and may the best films win.

Head on over to the other side to see the entire rundown of Golden Globe nominees and please feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below!

The lovely Princess Tiana is the star of Walt Disney Pictures’ animated feature film, The Princess and the Frog, which is set to debut in limited release in NY and LA on November 25, 2009, and expanding nationwide beginning December 11, 2009.

Check out the official images from the event, as well as video from the good folks at AllEarsNet, here below.

Today through January 3, 2010 in Walt Disney World and November 6 to January 3, 2010 in Disneyland park in California, Princess Tiana, Prince Naveen, and their bayou friends will be appearing three times a day in an exciting new show on board the Liberty Belle Riverboat in Liberty Square called “Tiana’s Showboat Jubilee!” The 15-minute celebration begins with a Disneyfied Mardi Gras parade leading up to the Liberty Belle dock, before guests board the beautiful paddleboat for her journey up the river. A great time will be had by all as you float along the Rivers of America and enjoy Disney cast members singing and dancing to jazz music, including original songs from the The Princess and The Frog soundtrack, which contains original songs from composer Randy Newman. Princess & Frog

Walt Disney Studios have released the first five minutes of their upcoming return to hand-drawn animation: The Princess and the Frog. The studio just recently released a brand new trailer for the movie, so they’re obviously planning to come at us hard and heavy with their marketing campaign.

The first five minutes is a good way to get a feel for the movie and if it’s able to win you over right away. Although many great movies take a while to get going, you can usually tell right off the bat if the table being set is your kind of meal or not. The Princess and the Frog starts off with our main character as a young girl, and sets up her eventual confrontation with a frog seeking her kiss to return him to his princely status. While watching, you can definitely feel the Disney in it, and it looks like it could be a really beautiful movie. You can even hear that old school tone in the dialogue that their actors delivered, which will go a long way in this return to traditional form.

Disney’s New Hand-Drawn Movie ‘The Princess And The Frog’ Now Has A Full Trailer

Princess & Frog

The Walt Disney Company hasn’t released a hand-drawn animated movie since 2004’s Home on the Range due to the takeover by computer animated movies and their partnership with Pixar and all of their genius releases. Home on the Range was in fact supposed to be the final Disney movie that was hand-drawn like the old days, but thankfully, for now, they decided to get back to it with The Princess and the Frog, which now has a full theatrical trailer available for viewing. As wonderful as the Pixar movies are, there is a magic that comes from these old-style hand-drawn animated movies, and hopefully this means Disney gets back to making more of them.

The movie is a new take on the classic tale of the princess who kisses a frog and turns him into a prince. It’s set in New Orleans and gained attention as the first Disney cartoon to feature an African American leading lady after so many decades and so many princesses. The Princess and the Frog was originally titled The Frog Princess, and is directed by The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, and Hercules directors John Musker and Ron Clements. The main stars aren’t very well-known, but it features a supporting cast that includes Oprah Winfrey, John Goodman, and Terrence Howard.

Click on over for the full synopsis and the brand new trailer for this Southern set traditional Disney musical.

Disney’s ‘The Princess And The Frog’ Teaser Trailer

Princess and the FrogIt’s been a long, long time since Disney has walked in the realm of 2D animated movies (barring any sequels and unknowns), but they are returning to their old ways — if only for one nostalgic rendezvous — and here is our first look at that return, The Princess and the Frog.

Check out the teaser trailer here below.

The Princess and the Frog is special in its own right as it is (surprisingly) the first time a Disney movie will have an African American princess. Anika Noni Rose will voice Princess Tiana, who will be joined by the voice cast of John Goodman and Keith David. Ron Clements and John Musker, who both wrote and directed Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, and Hercules, have again written and directed this film and even Randy Newman is involved, so they seem to have the proper ingredients to surprise us.
