‘Dead Snow 2’ Trailer Is As Insane As You Hoped It Would Be

Dead Snow 2 Nazi Zombies

If you’ve not yet seen Dead Snow, the simple and quiet little tale of a bunch of Nazi corpses rising from the snows to wreak bloody havoc on a group of students in the mountains in Norway, you my friend are missing out. It’s every bit as over-the-top crazy as it sounds, and in the best possible way imaginable.

Now a sequel to the movie titled Dead Snow 2: Red vs. Dead is on the way, and a new trailer has been released. Judging by early screening responses and this first look, the sequel will be just as jaw-droppingly insane as fans hoped it would be.

Be sure to check out the trailer and a synopsis below.

Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters Header

These past few years we’ve been seeing an interesting twist on childhood fairytales. Red Riding Hood and Snow White and the Huntsman are perhaps the most interesting of the latest Hollywood trend, but neither match the overall silliness and absurdity that is Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters.

The first trailer had poor CGI, Gatling guns in medieval times, and cheesy lines. This new red-band trailer seems to be focused on the humor and the plot of the film – if you can really call it a plot.

Check out the latest NSFW trailer and the poster for the film below.

It’s being reported that Famke Janssen (X-Men, House on Haunted Hill) has signed on to join the cast of Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, the updated sequel of sorts to the old German fairy tale, Hansel and Gretel.

Janssen is set to play the leader of a group of witches who have their hands full with the brother and sister duo of Hansel and Gretel. The story takes place 15 years after the siblings were lured to a wonderful and inviting gingerbread house by a vile witch with plans of cooking and eating them. After escaping their close encounter with the witch, the pair grow up bent on vengeance and ultimately become bounty hunters set on finding and destroying all witches.

Gemma Arterton has been cast as Gretel in Paramount Pictures’ upcoming action/horror/fantasy sequel to the classic Brothers Grimm fairy tale, Hansel and Gretel.

The new movie, titled Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters, is considered more of a continuation of the tale than a sequel, and sees the siblings many years later, now spending their days as bounty hunters. It also stars Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford) as Hansel.

Arterton has been a steadily growing star over the past couple of years with appearances in films like Quantum of Solace, The Disappearance of Alice Creed, Clash of the Titans, and Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.

Dead SnowDead Snow
DVD | Blu-ray
Directed by Tommy Wirkola
Starring Stig Frode Henriksen, Vegar Hoel, Bjorn Sundquist
MPI Home Video
Release date: February 23, 2010

A group of medical students take an Easter vacation to a cabin in the woods near the small Norwegian village of Oksfjord. Because of the heavy snow their only way to get there — and back — is a single snowmobile or a 45-minute walk. And no, there is no phone reception up here. Happily, they play in the snow; having snowball fights and sledging down the hills. In the cabin they drink beer, play twister, and enjoy themselves. But they are not alone. During World War 2, German soldiers terrorised Oksfjord subjecting its people to three years of barbarity as they looted any valuables they could find. Having finally had enough, the villagers rallied together and hounded the soldiers out of their homes and into the mountains. Something evil is stalking the students — zombie Nazis.

Let me get this out of the way early: I loved this movie. I thought it was a great genre piece made by an obvious horror movie nut and brought a fresh angle to an already gorged genre. Like the child vampires in Let The Right One In it seems the snow in Scandinavia has forced a genuinely fresh take on another of my favourite horror creations and Dead Snow, directed and co-written by Tommy Wirkola, steps into those bloody-footprints with gory glee.
