Rob Zombie's Assassin's Creed Unity Animated Short

In a bit of an unexpected pairing, Rob Zombie has teamed up with Ubisoft and their Assassin’s Creed franchise to help promote the upcoming game in the series, Assassin’s Creed Unity.

Zombie, along with The Walking Dead co-creator Tony Moore, created an animated short motion comic that sets up the French Revolution setting of the game. It’s a well done short, and every bit as brutally violent and bloody as you would expect something made by Zombie to be!

You can check out the video below, as well as a second video of Zombie talking about the project.

NYCC 2013: The Walking Dead 10th anniversary panel

Robert Kirkman and Charlie Adlard walked out to loud applause at the opening of The Walking Dead 10th Anniversary Panel at New York Comic-Con 2013. The panel began with screen shots of the covers for their newest 12-issue story arc titled “All Out War.” Robert Kirkman went on to explain that the first issue in the series – number 115 – came out this past Wednesday. They had 352,000 copies printed and it sold out within the first few days, making it the highest selling single-issue comic so far. The second printing will have four issues.

Adlard, who has been drawing the series since the beginning of its run, did a special cover that included major scenes from the past 10 years. The panelists proceeded to show some artwork from the new issue, the first being a panel in which Rick is leading a small army – gun pointed forward – to fight adversary Negan. Adlard began to talk about the inking process saying, “In the past 20 years, I have never ever not inked myself. Stefano is the new inker – he is proving us right and doing a bang up job. I hope the pencils are living up to the inks.”

Heath Huston, formally from Ennis, Texas, is now roaming the galaxies seeking adventure, excitement, and a handle of whiskey…

[Minor spoilers begin] at least on the surface. What he’s actually searching for is a place in the universe. Comixology announced on Monday that, in conjunction with Skybound Entertainment, the online comics retailer will be offering a free digital download for The Walking Dead: Days Gone By to WonderCon attendees.

You’re going to be hard pressed these days to find many people attending a comic book convention that haven’t yet read the first collected edition of The Walking Dead by Robert Kirkman and Tony Moore, but if you are one of the poor souls who haven’t experienced the first chapter of this zombie apocalypse epic that spawned a mega-popular television show, or if you just want the the digital volumes, then this should definitely be on your radar. The Official Companion BookThe Walking Dead Chronicles: The Official Companion Book
Paperback
Written by Paul Ruditis
Abrams Books
Release date: October 1, 2011

The Walking Dead Chronicles: The Official Companion Book is, as the title would indicate, the official behind-the-scenes book for The Walking Dead. Almost every popular TV or movie (especially those based on comics or sci-fi properties) gets one of these. I’m sure you’ve seen these before. They’re usually filled with interviews, pictures, and inside information about the production of whatever property the book is talking about. This one is no different, and will be a book worth buying if you really like The Walking Dead, but won’t be of much interest to non-fans.

Fear Agent has always been a series that I think would appeal to a lot of Geeks of Doom readers who maybe don’t read comics. It doesn’t deal with any of the standard superhero tropes of other comics, instead focusing on sci-fi action with smart writing and excellent art. Fear Agent has been chugging along for a few years, and is coming to an end next issue (at least for a while), so it is amazing to see that Fear Agent #31, part four of the Out of Step mini-series, is the best issue of the series so far.

Tucker & Dale vs. Evil

A new poster has been created for the indie horror–comedy, Tucker & Dale vs. Evil. The poster comes from comic book artist Tony Moore, who’s worked on everything from Punisher, Ghost Rider, and Venom, as well as The Walking Dead, which has nabbed him two Eisner Award nominations.

The movie tells the story of Tucker and Dale (Firefly‘s Alan Tudyk and Reaper‘s Tyler Labine), two hillbillies who are on vacation at their secluded mountain house in the middle of the woods. When a group of preppy college kids come to their area as for a getaway, they automatically assume Tucker and Dale are dangerous serial killer types. But when one of their friends has an accident and Tucker and Dale try and help, the kids’ assumptions of their murderous intent only grows, which only leads to messy consequences.

You can see the Tony Moore poster as well as the red band trailer (NSFW), by clicking on over to the other side now.

‘Walking Dead’ Creator Robert Kirkman Says Writing Staff NOT Fired; Season 2 Starts Filming Soon

Way back in December some controversial news broke that the entire writing staff for AMC’s hit new zombie series, The Walking Dead, had been fired. At the time, it sounded like showrunner Frank Darabont, who acts as a writer, director, and producer on the series, was having to do so many rewrites and make so many adjustments, it simply wasn’t worth having an entire writing staff. Instead, they would likely be hiring out freelance writers to handle the 13 episodes of the second season, one of which looked like it might be none other than Stephen King.

Now that you’re all caught up, delete most of that information from your memories. The Hollywood Reporter was able to have a little chat with The Walking Dead comic book creator Robert Kirkman, who set the record straight on the topic and offered some minor details to where things stand now with the show.

Release Date: March 8, 2011

When I first heard about AMC’s The Walking Dead, I was very intrigued. Not many networks take chances on comic book properties, let alone one that has nothing to do with tights or flights. I had read a few issues of the comic prior to watching the series and liked them very much, but for the most part I went into the series not really knowing what to expect, and I think that’s why I was so taken aback by what I saw.

From previews and television spots one could surmise that the show would be a relentless gore fest. While there is plenty of gore, The Walking Dead doesn’t rely on that to propel its incredible story. Producer Frank Darabont has an immense passion for this show, one that shines through in each episode on the recently released DVD/Blu-ray sets.

VenomMonday afternoon brought us some disturbing words from artist Tony Moore, whose work has graced the pages of The Walking Dead, Fear Agent, and the new Venom series coming from Marvel Comics. Moore tweeted on Monday that some of the pages he sent out for the Venom series were damaged when they arrived at their destination, while other pages were missing.

“Box of Venom pages arrived at inker’s tampered with, half the pages missing. Others damaged. I think I’m gonna be sick.”

Earlier this evening, Moore posted that five pages of the art for Venom #1 had been stolen.

“5 of my Venom #1 pages have been stolen. Art dealers and collectors please keep an eye out as I would like to have them back. Please repost.”
