DreamWorks Trolls title

I’ll admit that I had my doubts about DreamWorks Animation’s Trolls being an entertaining film considering that it was based on the ’80s toys that many of us have long forgotten about. But when that first gleeful trailer popped up, it came to many viewers as a pleasant surprise. Then they showed even more footage at the San Diego Comic-Con, and soon enough, the film caught my attention.

Now a new trailer has been released featuring the film’s lead voice stars, Justin Timberlake and Anna Kendrick, talking about the film and how music and animation go hand in hand. Check out the latest trailer for Trolls below.

DreamWorks Trolls title

Thursdays at San Diego Comic-Con International are probably the most uneventful, while also still being just a little bit special at the same time. While most people are pumped and getting situated for Saturday, DreamWorks Animation had a presentation for their upcoming film Trolls featuring the voice talents of Justin Timberlake and Anna Kendrick.

We briefly saw what kind of a film Trolls would be in a teaser trailer. Full of comedy and top 40 songs, Trolls is based on the 90s toys that took over the pop culture world by storm, and if a hit with audiences, it will likely make a huge come back.

Since Thursday is one of the lightest days of the Con, we sat down at Hall H to find out more about this movie. Check out what they had to say and a brief description of the scenes that were shown at the panel.

Justin Timberlake "Can't Stop the Feeling" from DreamWorks' Trolls

Most filmmakers don’t just stick to one art medium. Sometimes they extend their body of work by helming other media like TV episodes or miniseries, but on some occasions, they will direct music videos. Now, we don’t cover music videos much, if at all. But when famous directors like Mark Romanek collaborate with someone like Justin Timberlake, it tends to get some attention. The two have come out with a music video for “Can’t Stop The Feeling,” from the upcoming DreamWorks Animation film Trolls. Timberlake is making his debut as a soundtrack producer for the film.

Check out the music video for the infectious “Can’t Stop The Feeling” below.

Throw up the metal horns and pay attention to your online streaming screen, people, because this week’s Netflix review comes from Norway, the home of Vikings, pioneering Black Metal, and… TROLLS! The much discussed and highly reviewed film Trollhunter takes you into the domain of modernized fantasy, bringing the creatures from fairy tales and folklore into a modern setting, and providing them with a film platform in the manner that vampires and zombies have had for years. The principal selling factor of Trollhunter is its breathtaking visual effects, making it an amazing eye-candy experience.

Presented in “found-footage” format, Trollhunter shadows a group of film students creating a documentary examining mysterious bear deaths across the country. Their investigations lead them to a man known only as Hans, who turns out to be a long-time experienced trollhunter employed by a government who wants to keep the existence of trolls a secret.

That’s right, it’s the movie event you’ve all been waiting for: DreamWorks Animation is developing a new animated movie based on those wacky-haired Good Luck Troll dolls we’ve all seen or owned at some point in our lives. Whether you actually had one for good luck, a pencil-topper (who ever thought that was a good design…awkward), or any of the many other treasures created around them, those little buggers are recognized by millions.

The little trolls, best known for their massive, frizzy, colorful hairdos and their horrifying and inexplicably naked appearance, are owned by Dam Things of Denmark, who is teaming with the studio to make the movie happen. The company was formed when Thomas Dam carved a doll based on Scandinavian Trolls for his daughter in 1959, and they caught on in popularity.
