Mission: Impossible: Rogue Nation Header

There’s no denying that Tom Cruise is one of the biggest movies stars ever to walk this little planet we all call home. But what separates him from most other big stars out there is his willingness to take on many of the unbelievable stunts required of the role that he’s playing all by himself.

Many of these wild and crazy stunts have been done in his time playing Ethan Hunt in the Mission: Impossible movie franchise. We saw the biggest of them in 2011’s Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, in which Cruise actually dangled off the side of the tallest building in the world, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. It was the biggest he’s ever performed, that is. But not anymore. When Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation is released on July 31st, that stunt will be surpassed in a big way when moviegoers watch Cruise hanging from the side of a freakin’ airplane as it takes off.

We’ve seen a preview of the stunt in trailers for the movie, and now a new video has been released offering a behind the scenes peek at Cruise being strapped to the side of the plane and hanging on for dear life as it takes off. You can check it out below.

Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation

Since Paramount rescheduled Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation for a July release – in order to get away from the huge competition that Star Wars: The Force Awakens presents – the studio has been on one big marketing push. It was only a few months ago when we saw the last trailer for the Tom Cruise starring vehicle.

In the film we learn that the U.S. government has disavowed the IMF (the spy agency that Ethan Hunt works for), on the cusp of a rogue nation rising to create chaos. It wouldn’t be much of a trailer without a huge stunt as a selling point, and it looks like the trailer wants to let us know that there will be quite a few of them. Check out the trailer below.

Paramount has released the first TV spot for Mission: Impossible 5 or as it’s now newly titled Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation, starring Tom Cruise, on this quiet Sunday morning. Ever since the film moved up five months from its December release to a safer July one, far away from the juggernaut that is Star Wars: The Force Awakens, fans have been eagerly waiting for a glimpse of what director Christopher McQuarrie (Jack Reacher) has in store for them.

The ad runs at a minute long, and debuted before the release of the full trailer, which drops Monday. We actually get a good deal of info about the plot, as well as some exciting footage of the action in 60 seconds. Hit the jump to check out to see TV spot.

You know how your mother always said that if you don’t have anything nice to say then you shouldn’t say anything at all? Well, screw that. This movie was so utterly ridiculous that I cannot help but try to warn you off before you spend your hard earned cash on it or worse yet, actually watch it. I did manage to entertain my wife while I watched it, though. Mostly by my throwing my headphones off my head in disgust. 7 Below, indeed…this title is likely to represent the watcher’s IQ after having viewed it. I really do feel like I lost at least that many points after having viewed suffered through ninety minutes of this.

Imagine a van full of strangers. Okay, well, a van with two brothers, a married couple and two others…but whatever. Anyway, they are on their way to a resort and after a seemingly meaningless pit stop in a podunk town, a few of them start having odd hallucinations. One of which causes the van to wreck and strands them on the side of the road. Luckily, Jack (Ving Rhames) is driving by and gives them a ride back to his place. He rushes them all into his pickup, though I am unsure how all these people got into a single cab truck. His reasoning for hurrying: a “storm is coming.” He says it so many times in the beginning of the film that I keep envisioning the original ads for Game of Thrones before the first season started. I even walked around the house repeating it, much to my wife’s chagrin. But she’s a good sport, she kept it alive for the rest of the night mainly because…
