Neil Gaiman's The Sandman

For a while it looked like a movie adaptation of Neil Gaiman‘s comic book series The Sandman from Joseph Gordon-Levitt was going to happen. Eventually Warner Bros. moved the project over to New Line, and within a year of that happening Levitt ended up departing the project and the movie ultimately never happened.

Usually when it comes to long comic book or book series, fans would much prefer a TV series adaptation over movies. Especially these days. And that’s exactly the road that Sandman is now traveling on, as Netflix has announced that a series adaptation of Gaiman’s work is on the way to the streaming service.

They Both Die At The End

HBO already has multiple projects in the works from J.J. Abrams and his Bad Robot Productions, including Jordan Peele’s Lovecraft Country and the first TV series Abrams is also writing since Fringe, titled Demimonde. They also produce the current HBO series Westworld, which is heading into its third season.

Now they’re adding another, a sci-fi comedy titled They Both Die at the End. The show, which will be written and executive produced by co-creator of Comedy Central’s The Other Two and former SNL writer Chris Kelly, is based on author Adam Silvera‘s book of the same name. It’s set in a future when people are notified on the day they’re going to die, and follows a group—who are all connected to a pair of teenage boys at the center of the story—as they experience their “scary, funny, weird, hopeful, romantic, and unexpected final hours.”

Last week on The CW’s crossover “Crisis on Earth-X,” members of Supergirl, The Flash, Arrow, and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow converged on Central City to celebrate the wedding of Barry Allen and Iris West (Grant Gustin, Candice Patton). Alas, that wedding did not happen because Nazis from Earth-35 aka Earth-X, the terrible world where Hitler won WWII, invaded the church and a fierce battle ensued. Our heroes had to fight their way out through Metallo, Red Tornado, OverGirl (Melissa Benoist), Evil Green Arrow (Stephen Amell), and Eobard Thawne wearing a Wells (Tom Cavanagh) face. They had one hero on their side that was lost on their Earth – Leonard Snart (Wentworth Miller).

Spoilers below.
