CONAN SDCC 2016 Melissa Benoist, Conan O'Brien, Grant Gustin, Stephen Amell

As he has done in the past Conan O’Brien temporarily moved his show Conan down to San Diego for the famed San Diego Comic Con going on right now. Last year, Conan had shows dedicated to many of the superhero films of 2016, including Batman v Superman, X-Men: Apocalypse, and so on.

On Thursday night’s show from SDCC, before bringing his guests out, Conan visited Ironhead Studios, responsible for making the costumes of some of the most famous modern superheroes, including those in Batman v Superman. Conan gets to try on a Hawkman helmet, and fantasize about Wonder Woman Gal Gadot while standing with her headless body replica. He gets creative, placing casts of Ian McKellen and Matt Damon’s heads on the Wonder Woman statue. Conan then volunteers to have his own superhero suit made, meaning the self deprecating comedian had to first pose and be subjected to a full body scan. He then debuts the new Conan supersuit, a buffed out blue bodysuit featuring a C-belt and bright orange hair helmet… it’s fantastic.

Weird Al performs "Yoda" With 13-Year-Old autistic girl Jodi DiPiazza At Night of Too Many Stars

Weird Al Yankovic has been my favorite musical performer since I was in single digits. He was my first concert at age 13. And he’s managed to stay relevant, and record over a dozen albums in the past 35 years. He also happens to be one of the classiest people in show business.

At Comedy Central’s Night of Too Many Stars: America Comes Together for Autism Programs live charity telethon on Sunday night, a 13-year-old autistic girl, Jodi DiPiazza, performed with the parody artist to his hit song “Yoda” (a parody of The Kinks hit “Lola”).

Watch the performance in the video here below.

Weird Al Yankovic Emmy Awards 2014 Game Of Thrones theme song with Andy Samberg

Weird Al Yankovic performed at tonight’s Emmy Awards where he took on several popular television theme songs, one of which was Game Of Thrones. The parody master created lyrics for the popular HBO series, adding in parts about poison wine, paying attention to the introductory maps, and the need for author George R.R. Martin — whose A Song Of Ice and Fire novels are the basis for the TV show — to type faster.

SNL‘s Andy Samberg joined Yankovic on stage dressed as King Joffrey, but he eventually made his way into the audience where Martin was seated, handing him an old-fashioned typewriter as Yankovic and his background singers implored the writer to type faster.

Watch the video here below!

Weird Al Yankovic

A week ago I wrote a retrospective article on the 25th anniversary of “Weird Al” Yankovic‘s supremely silly cult classic UHF and ended it with these words:

The movie may one day see a release on Blu-ray and now that Yankovic’s career is hotter than ever thanks to the success of his latest album Mandatory Fun it wouldn’t be inconceivable for a company like Shout! Factory to distribute an HD edition.

I automatically assumed at the time that Shout! would pick up the license to release UHF on Blu-ray because it’s an MGM title and they typically distribute that studio’s lesser-loved catalog entries. Plus this year would be the most appropriate time for a UHF Blu because the movie celebrates its silver anniversary in 2014 and anniversaries always look good on a Blu-ray/DVD cover. But I had no idea that when Shout! announced its upcoming home video release slate over the weekend at the San Diego Comic-Con they would be including a new 25th anniversary edition of UHF among some of their better-known titles.

UHF

In the early 1980’s “Weird Al” Yankovic sold millions of albums and on occasion infuriated a famous musician or two with his quotable (and often superior) parodies of the most popular songs of the day. He made countless appearances on hit late night talk shows and MTV, and as his fan base grew Yankovic’s music began to make its way onto the rare movie soundtrack (the title track from his 1985 release Dare to Be Stupid received a prominent placement in the following year’s Transformers: The Movie).

Short of writing his autobiography and inventing the Internet years before anyone else, the only obstacle preventing Yankovic from becoming the King of All Media (eat it Stern) was his very own big screen comedy motion picture.

Weird Al - Alpocalypse

The MP3 album deal of the day over at Amazon today is Alpocalypse, the new album by “Weird Al” Yankovic, for only $3.99.

The album contains 12 songs, including “Perform This Way,” an awesome parody of Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way,” as well as spoofs on Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, T.I., and more. This album download of Alpocalypse also comes with the digital booklet.

There’s also a CD and Deluxe CD version of the album, the latter of which comes with a bonus DVD.

I’m sure you’re all familiar with the genius that is Weird Al’s contributions to music and comedy, thanks to his successful parodies of several Michael Jackson hits and his ability to not only keep up with pop trends, but to mock them in a way we can all relate.
