Borderlands 3

It’s been over six years since developer Gearbox Software’s Borderlands 2 was released. Since that time fans of the series have gotten games like Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel and Tales from the Borderlands from the now deceased Telltale Games. But when it comes to Borderlands 3, apart from a tech demo early on in development, they’ve been left waiting patiently.

But today that changed. Gearbox livestreamed their presentation from PAX East today, where they shared lots of goodies including an over three-minute trailer for Borderlands 3, a Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition trailer, and a trailer for an Ultra HD texture pack update for Borderlands: The Handsome Collection. You can find these trailers below.

Now, if a game of the year edition for the original Borderlands sounds strange to you, that’s because it is. The game first came out a decade ago, and it already had a game of the year edition. It also makes the new release pretty hilarious. There’s nothing in the rule book that says you have to release a GOTY edition within a year or so of release, or that you can only do it once. So why not, have at it!

Maybe this will open the flood gates and we’ll see an original Legend of Zelda game of the year edition, or perhaps a Space Invaders game of the year edition with a few more pixels added to make it really look shiny new. The possibilities are endless.

As for details on Borderlands 3, more info on the game will be shared on the official website on April 3rd. You can also head right here for more on the Game of the Year Edition, which is also coming on April 3rd, and right here for more info on the Handsome Collection update if interested.
