But it don’t make no difference,
‘cos I ain’t gonna be,
easy, easy,
the only time I’m easy’s when I’m
killed by death
Those are typical sentiments from Lemmy Kilmister, legendary frontman of Motörhead, who is such a cult icon in his own right that come 2009, audiences will be treated to Lemmy: The Movie.
Check out the teaser trailer here below for the documentary, which was shot on a combination of High Definition and 16mm film. Co-produced by Greg Olliver and Wes Orshoski, Lemmy contains interviews with friends, bandmates, and peers such as Dave Grohl, Slash, Ozzy Osbourne, Alice Cooper, and Mick Jones, as well as with the big guy himself.
Something tells me the life story of the now 62-year-old singer/bassist is going to be a lot less sad than poor Anvil’s documentaryAnvil! The Story Of Anvil. That’s because Lemmy is badass personified, though Motörhead isn’t that much higher up the financial ladder than Anvil, they just have way more fans, even after over 35 years on the music scene. Lemmy has said he’s made more money from royalties on songs he wrote for bigger stars (like Ozzy’s “Mama I’m Coming Home” of all songs!) than during his entire lengthy career with Motörhead.
The film is supposed to set the record straight on a number of rumors and myths regarding Lemmy’s lifestyle. I’m guessing by “setting the record straight” they mean confirming that it it’s all true.
I kid.
But seriously, Lemmy friggin’ rules, he really does. You like how I can’t ever objectively report on any news that concerns hard rock/heavy metal? Oh well, that’s what I geek out to the most, so I’m allowed.
I only just heard about this documentary from my friends over at /Film and I’m really looking forward to it. I’ve been a Motörhead fan since the 1980s when they played my local metal club all the time. I recall standing at the front of the line with a group of friends to see them at The Ritz in NYC in 1988 when Lemmy came walking out of the venue and said a few words to us. We all just stood there dumbfounded because fucking Lemmy was talking to us!!!
If you can’t grasp my love of Lemmy from this post, I recommend you get your hands on the movie Airheads (yes, that’s right, I’m telling you to purchase Airheads — I love that movie, how could I not?). Not only does Lemmy make a cameo it in, but there’s an important question raised: Who’d win in a wrestling match, Lemmy or God? (Hint: it’s a trick question.)
