‘The Twilight Saga’ Star Robert Pattinson Is Related To Dracula … Seriously
space
The Movie God   |  @   |

What if I told you that the world’s hands-down most sparkly vampire, Robert Pattinson, who plays Edward Cullen in The Twilight Saga, was actually related to the real Dracula, Vlad the Impaler?

Well, that’s precisely what genealogy experts from Ancestry.com discovered in a recent test of the actor’s family tree. You see, Pattinson is actually related to the British royal family, and is in fact distant cousins to Prince William and Prince Harry. This now connects Transylvania’s Vlad the Impaler (real name Vlad Tepes), as a distant uncle to all of them.

The Movie God   |  @   |

Paramount Pictures has released a press release officially revealing the cast for their remake of the 1984 Kevin Bacon film, Footloose.

The lead character Ren McCormack was awarded to Kenny Wormald, a relatively new actor, best known for his dancing abilities. Wormald has appeared as a dancer in movies like You Got Served and Clerks II, and also was a part of the movie Center Stage: Turn It Up. He joins popular Dancing with the Stars performer Julianne Hough, who will step into Lori Singer’s role of Ariel Moore. Hough is also new to the acting game, but has a new movie called Burlesque coming up and even appeared in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, giving her a little geek cred.

Batman Fan Film: Bat In The Sun’s ‘City of Scars’
space
Hunter Camp   |

Like Batman? Like the Joker? Want to see a live action Harley Quinn? Like fan films?

Well, the guys over at Bat In The Sun have done it again with their short City of Scars.

Watch it here below!

It’s a really cool live-action film that runs approximately 30 minutes, and it is the only thing that I have seen that successfully combines the feel and attitude of Chris Nolan’s Batman Begins and The Dark Knight with Batman: The Animated Series. It has some drawbacks, mainly from the lack of budget, but overall these guys really have what it takes to take this to the next level.

Falling To Pieces? Live-Action ‘Akira’ Gets New Writer, PG-13 Stamp
space
The Movie God   |  @   |

For many fans of the popular six-part Japanese manga or the 1988 animated film, the announcement of a live-action adaptation of Katsuhiro Otomo‘s Akira was a scary but quietly intriguing prospect. With today’s filmmaking technologies, there’s no doubt that a faithful and well-made film could be amazing to see, if put in the right hands.

Then came word that Albert Hughes and Allan Hughes would be stepping in to direct the movie for Warner Brothers and Leonardo DiCaprio‘s Appian Way Productions.

At that point, Children of Men, Iron Man, and Cowboys and Aliens writing duo Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby were working on the script, but it sounds like now a change has been made. In an interview with Collider, producer Andrew Lazar talked all things Akira. Among the things discussed, he shared that the new writer working on the project is Albert Torres. Also, that the first of the proposed two films would be based on parts 1-3 of the manga, and the second of course will focus on parts 4-6.

Wade Wilson’s War #1 (of 4)
Written by: Duane Swierczynski
Art by: Jason Pearson
Marvel
Price: $3.99
Release Date: June 9, 2010

Well Deadpool fans, here is another treat for you, a Marvel Knights miniseries. In Deadpool Wade Wilson’s War we are thrown head first into an ongoing Senate trial where Deadpool is testifying what led to a massacre killing hundreds. The story set up is quite interesting since you already pretty much know the outcome, which leads me to believe there is going to be some sort of twist.

Duane Swierczynski definitely understands how to utilize Deadpool to his strengths which leads to comedy gold. I really love that he narrates the flashbacks and the people in them can hear him doing it and are weirded out by it. He even tells them he is doing it for a Senate hearing that won’t even happen until their mission is over. I definitely enjoyed the cast of characters Swierczynski uses in this story from Bullseye to SIlver Sable to Domino, they are all highly enjoyable.
