The child actor who played Short Round in Indiana Jones and the Temple Of Doom is all grown up now!
Jonathan Ke Quan, who starred in the 1984 film as the Indiana Jones kid sidekick, turned 40 this year*. Check out what the actor looks like today in the photo here below, along with a video interview with Quan from The Goonies 25th Anniversary release.
Quan is best remembered for his Temple Of Doom role where he spouted classic lines like “Hey, Dr. Jones, no time for love,” “Hey, lady! You call him Dr. Jones,” and “Hang on lady, we going for a ride.”
He also starred in 1985’s The Goonies, as one of the title adventurers, and from 1989 to 1991 in the TV sitcom Head of the Class. Aside from a cameo as himself in 1992’s Encino Man, Quan hasn’t seen much screen time.
I think he looks great and that George Lucas and Steven Spielberg need to find a way to get Quan into the fifth Indiana Jones movie. I mean, c’mon, Indy was his best friend! He can show up and be like, “Why you leave me, Dr. Jones? I loved you!”
By the way, if you’re a fan of Short Round, Gentle Giant has a real cool Short Round Mini Bust. There’s also apparently a bunch of action figures and LEGO’fied Short Round products — most of which look nothing like the actor, but the mini bust is pretty neat.
