If there was ever a way to make the impending Star Trek 2 any more interesting than it already is, J.J. Abrams and his crew may have just done it.
According to Variety, Benicio Del Toro has been offered the role of the villain in the upcoming sequel. Now, who he’ll be playing has yet to be revealed, but with production likely set to commence in January, plot details should be arriving soon enough.
Abrams will helm with the team of Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci back behind the pen for what may be one of the most anticipated sci-fi/action projects around. Now, while I may not have been sold on the first film to the extent that it was received overall, I did find it to be a wholly worthwhile sci-fi venture, with a lot of great action and some fantastic set pieces. However, this writer hopes that the sequel is a bit more memorable.
