Drew Struzan is retired now, and it’s doubtful we’ll ever see his like again, not in this universe. Struzan is by far one of the greatest movie poster artists the industry produced; he has created the posters for the Indiana Jones series, the 1997 Star Wars Special Edition re-releases, the Back to the Future trilogy, the 1982 version of The Thing, and other cherished films too numerous to count. He also designed the poster art for three of the Police Academy movies, and now a large selection of Struzan’s original acrylic paintings are being sold for big bucks at the artist’s website.
To own a Drew Struzan original is to possess a piece of cinema history that many would kill for, especially since most of the poster originals will set you back no less than $40,000. Struzan’s original acrylics for Police Academy 3: Back in Training and Police Academy 4: Citizens on Patrol can both be yours for $100,000… each. Make of that what you will, but the demand is there and people will buy this stuff if they have money to burn. No matter what your opinion may be of the Police Academy movies you have to admit these posters look pretty sweet.
You can check out and purchase the Police Academy poster art and many other famed original Struzan works at the artist’s website.
