Can’t wait for a sequel to The Karate Kid or a live action Jetsons film? Well, it appears as though you’re going to have to, as they both have gotten a new writer.
According to Variety, Sony has tapped Zak Penn to rewrite their upcoming sequel to the huge hit that was the Karate Kid remake, and the pair of Evan Susser and Van Robichaux (the pair behind the Black Listed Chewie) have been hired to re-write The Jetsons.
So, first, I must say that neither of these films sound all that enticing. Neither writing teams have all that great a resume, Penn in particular, a writer known for his tentpole projects but not for how brilliant they have been written. The Jetsons has absolutely no chance to not look absolutely silly on the big screen, so hopes on that front are really low. Overall, these two projects have a huge hill to climb, and it doesn’t look like they’ve gotten a great start.
What to do you think?
