Looper, the sci-fi thriller from Brick/The Brothers Bloom writer-director Rian Johnson, has been in the works for several years now and an early cut was screened for critics last year to mostly positive notices, but only recently has Columbia Pictures kicked their promotional efforts into gear on behalf of the movie. Last month, Johnson and star Joseph Gordon-Levitt appeared at WonderCon to discuss the movie (check out our panel coverage here) and give us our first look at Gordon-Levitt in character.
Today, our friends at /Film have debuted the first poster from Looper You can check it out here below.
Johnson’s film takes place in a world where time travel exists, but only as black market technology used by the mob to eliminate their enemies. They send hired killers, called “loopers,” thirty years into the past with their quarry. Gordon-Levitt plays a looper whose life is threatened when his employers decide to target his future self (Bruce Willis) for assassination.
The poster is a simple but striking image that perfectly visualizes the linked destinies of the main character’s past and future selves. The first trailer for Looper, which was screened at WonderCon, will debut next Thursday, April 12.
Looper also stars Emily Blunt, Paul Dano, Piper Perabo, Garret Dillahunt, and Jeff Daniels. The movie opens on September 28, 2012.
