UPDATED! Comedy Web Series ‘Nerd vs. Geek’ Needs Your Help To Become A Reality

The Movie God   |

Nerds vs. Geeks

Are you a fan of helping artists make their indie projects a reality via Kickstarter and websites like it? It’s an addictive hobby, coming together with a bunch of other people, chipping in a few bucks here and there, and seeing someone’s dream evolve into a reality.

One such project badly in need of your help to reach said reality stage of evolution, is Nerd vs. Geek. And with only a couple of days remaining, it needs quite the push to reach its $16,232 goal.

The project comes from Cinevore Studios, creators of web series OverAnalyzers and videos like the “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Pizza Taste Test.” The new series simply presents the question of whether you’re a geek or a nerd or something else entirely. In it, a gamer, a scientist, and a theater performer end up as roommates through a Craigslist ad and have to figure out a way to live with one another.

The result is a web series that touches on many nerd/geek-related discussions, such as why it’s now so cool to be what was once considered so uncool and what differentiates geeks from nerds, while visiting all realms of pop culture including video games, comic books, math, science (fact and fiction), cartoons, board games, theater, TV, and film.

Basically, it’s a comedy web series for geeks and nerds by geeks and nerds…which tries to figure out what the hell “geeks” and “nerds” really are. An appreciated topic here at Geeks of Doom, where we firmly stand by the thought that being a geek isn’t so restricted as being someone who’s into comic books and video games and so on, but more open to anyone who’s truly passionate about something, whether that be movies or food, heavy metal or astronomy, and so on.

Series writer and director Matt Conant clarifies what Nerds vs. Geeks is about, saying “The real purpose of this series is NOT to stereotype or sensationalize ‘nerds & geeks,’ but to show the often unseen inner struggles of intelligent introverts,” explained even further by writer and producer Stephanie Yuhas who says “This show is a fictionalized portrayal of our actual lives. We were inspired to create Nerd vs. Geek after attending a local MENSA meeting. We realized that although everyone in the room had taken the same standardized test, we had nothing in common, to the point where paying the check at the end of the meal turned into a hilarious battle of the brains.”

If the series sounds like something you’d like to see happen, you can head to their Kickstarter page now to learn more and donate, then spread the word! But hurry—as stated above, there’s only a couple of days remaining to reach their goal, but much bigger amounts have been surpassed in far less time.

UPDATE: Sadly, the goal set on Kickstarter was not met in time. But if you donated there and still want to see the series, you can head to the Cinevore website for information on their plans to still make it happen and how you can donate directly.
