Surprise! Female Version Of ‘The Expendables’ Could Head Into Production

eelyajekiM   |

Adi Shanknar Producing Female Version Of The Expendables

The Expendables 2 proved that women could be just as tough as the guys carrying the big guns. Nan Yu may have been the beauty behind the testosterone group, but the recent success of the film has made a push for a female version of The Expendables to be made. Adi Shankar, producer of films like The Grey and Killing Them Softly, would like to see that happen. The producer has recently hired Dutch Southern to pen a script for the female edition of The Expendables. Variety reports that he would finance the film himself and that he’s in talks with some major female action stars, past and present.

Some of the most prominent members of the female action stars are Linda Hamilton, Siguourney Weaver, and Jamie Lee Curtis. All three were leading ladies in their respective James Cameron films. Then there is Lucy Lawless, who has appeared in Xena: Warrior Princess. Uma Thurman has proven her worth as Kiddo in Kill Bill. Milla Jovovich and Kate Beckinsale are probably the most recognizable female action stars of the newer generation.

It’s hard to tell who could be part of the female ensemble version of The Expendables without actually knowing whom Shankar is actually aiming for. The trade doesn’t mention any specific names, but if he intends to make it look like the females can stand on the same level as the males, than it’s pretty safe to say that any of the aforementioned actresses should be considered. Shankar might not want to put all his eggs in one basket by casting every single big name female action star if he wants to make this a franchise film.

Who would you like to like to see in the female version of The Expendables?

For some reason, I read “Lucy Lawless” and translated that in my head to “Lucy Liu”. I immediately thought of her character from Payback. I’d pay to see Lucy Liu kick butt again!

They do need some Asian flavor. I vote for Michelle Yeoh. She’s the right age, still beautiful, and no one has kicked more ass.

Uma Thurman?? LOL GTFO, she isn’t even in the same league as Linda Hamilton, Siguourney Weaver, etc.

    I call Cynthia Rothrock!

Besides those mentioned above, here are some women who should definitely be considered: Noomi Rapace! Jessica Biel, Eliza Dushku, Shauna MacDonald (The Descent), Michelle Rodriguez, Lena Heady, Chloe Moretz (Hit Girl in Kick Ass)

Cynthia Rothrock is a must, but i mean all these men are 80s action heros, so are we going with 80s action women? Bridgette neilson? linda hamilton is cool, but weaver and curtis?? not so sure. lol. Maybe weaver can do like a willis part.
