Stone Temple Pilots Fires Frontman Scott Weiland, Or Did They?
|
In what certainly seems to amount to a whole much of ado about something or a whole lot of nothing, it appears that Stone Temple Pilots, the band that first rose from the grunge ashes of that genre’s peak during the early/mid 1990s to sport a more adventurous rock/post-punk/hard rock ala Led Zeppelin meets Janes Addiction kind of sound, has fired their front man, Scott Weiland, a charge the singer vehemently denies.
The group announced the decision this morning via a one-sentence press release, which simply and to the point read: “Stone Temple Pilots have announced they have officially terminated Scott Weiland.” The band had reformed back in 2008 after it had been defunct for five years, and toured incessantly last year. They have not made it clear if they are going to forage ahead with a new lead vocalist or not. Just as recently as early this week, Weiland mentioned to Rolling Stone that the band hadn’t broken up, that he hadn’t quit or had been fired. That was a response from a Rolling Stone interview guitarist Slash, Weiland’s bandmate in their former supergroup Velvet Revolver, did a few months ago, in which he had said that STP’s termination of Weiland had come to fruition.

Seth Grahame-Smith is a pretty decent writer whose books do really well, but when it comes to screenplays, that’s a whole other story. Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, the movie he wrote from his novel of the same name, was critically panned and bombed at the box office, but that isn’t stopping the writer from taking on other projects. Heat Vision has word that the screenwriter will be taking his talents to the comic book world now by rewriting the script for the Fantastic Four reboot, directed by Josh Trank.
According to the trade, the new superhero film will take a grounded approach, but have sci-fi elements attached to it. It will also “tap deep into the comics mythology, which featured not just the better-known villains such as Doctor Doom and Galactus but also alien races the Kree and the Skrull, and the anti-matter universe known as the Negative Zone.”

Peanuts #6 is exactly what you’d expect it to be. Sweet, charming, and funny with loads of heart for kids of all ages.
Writers Paige Braddock, Vicki Scott, Art Roche, Alexis E. Fajardo & Riley Pell-Jenkins all turn in classic style Peanuts tales that are all fantastic. There’s short stories featuring almost all of the Peanuts gang, told using such dead-on character dialogue that you really wouldn’t know that there weren’t all written by Charles Schulz himself. And, for good measure, BOOM! throws in a classic Peanuts strip by the creator himself. Lot of chuckles and smiles in this issue.

Noomi Rapace Says ‘Prometheus 2’ Script In The Works

Perhaps one of the most polarizing films of last year was Ridley Scott‘s Prometheus. Some called it a return to the sci-fi horror genre and others called it one of the worst things ever. If it was the latter, part of the blame could be directed towards the screenplay. Regardless, the film made just enough money to garner a sequel, or at least explore the option of one.
Scott is definitely on board to direct one, and it seems that he’s been talking to film star Noomi Rapace about it as well. During a press conference for Dead Man Down, the actress confirmed that she has been talking to the director to discuss Prometheus 2 and what we could possible see in it.

James Wan knows how to scare his audience, as evidenced by his previous films, Saw and Insidious, the latter of which has a sequel currently in production. But before he started to work on Insidious Chapter 2, he directed a film called The Conjuring, and as you can guess by the title, it is a horror. However, unlike his previous works, this film is based on a true story.
Vera Farmiga (Up in the Air) and Patrick Wilson (Insidious) star in The Conjuring, which is about about two paranormal investigators hired to investigate strange activity at a Rhode Island house in a very remote location. Lili Taylor and Ron Livingston play the homeowners who called Farmiga and Wilson for their help.
Check out the first trailer for The Conjuring here below.
