The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Legendary Edition

Far before Bethesda’s The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim finally arrived in our lives, people were locking it in as that year’s game of the year (this writer included). And, as expected, many made the obvious more of a reality with the crowning of the game as the best of the year. It had become normal for the best games of the year to release a Game of the Year Edition which included extra goodies and all of the DLC content that had been released since the title’s first release, so it was only a matter of time until we got our hands on the Skyrim GOTY edition, right?

Wrong, apparently!

Instead, Bethesda has announced that the Skyrim Legendary Edition—which is exactly the same thing with a different title—will be released on June 4th.

Still, the decision is an interesting one considering how expected a GOTY edition was. The reason behind this could be games like Dead Island, a decent zombie-killing game that was also released in 2011. While fun at times, the game also had its flaws, so you can imagine the gaming world’s shock when it was announced that the Dead Island Game of the Year Edition was on the way. Only one website went far out of the way to actually call it the game of the year, and that was likely as grasp at attention considering the real contenders of that year like Skyrim or Dark Souls or Portal 2 or Batman: Arkham City. This may have tainted the title a tad, and led to better games steering clear.

Nevertheless, a shiny new version of Skyrim is on the way soon, and that’s all that matters!

If you haven’t yet played the game or its DLC, including Dawnguard, Hearthfire, and Dragonborn, you’ll be able to grab the Legendary Edition on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC in North America on June 4th, and throughout Europe and Australia on June 7th.

In addition to the DLC, the game will also offer added features like combat cameras, mounted combat, a Legendary difficulty mode, and Legendary skills, which will allow you to master every perk and level up your skills infinitely.

  1. Its exactly the same as vanilla, u just get all the dlc’s for a little less, vanilla skyrim has mounted combat, combat cameras (those cool camera angles you sometimes get that slow time and all that) and with the newest update, vanilla skyrim now has… You guessed it, legendary perks
