Most actors would be pretty excited to jump into a franchise as massive as the Star Wars franchise is, so it’s not a big deal to find out an actor or two would be interested in being cast by J.J. Abrams in Star Wars Episode VII or future installments.
That said, it’s a slow news day so far, so here’s something to ponder!
Recently, both Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe and Lord of the Rings and Fringe star John Noble have been asked about whether or not they would want to appear in Star Wars, and you can read their answers below.
Radcliffe, who’s just a couple of years out of his first massive franchise (in which he was the primary face), said this to Time Out London about the idea:
“‘Franchise’ mustn’t become a dirty word. If directors like J.J. Abrams and Joss Whedon keep doing what they’re doing, it won’t be. I’d love to be part of one again. Maybe not leading it: a nice supporting role. In Star Wars? Yeah, that’d be awesome. That’d be crazy cool.”
Talking to IGN on the topic, beginning with how a false rumor of his already being involved in Star Wars got started, Noble said this about if he’d ever be interested:
“I mean I’d love to do Star Wars. That would just be epic doing something like that. And it’s not beyond the realm of possibility. I have a terrific relationship with J.J. Abrams and Bad Robot, I really do. So it’s not beyond the realm of possibility. It’s awhile away yet.
Well, I mean Star Wars. If you’re going to do one [franchise], do Star Wars. I mean seriously, if you’re going to pick one to do, do that one. Because that’s basically a cultural revolution. It reset pop culture in some ways. So if I had to choose one, it would be that one.”
Again, this is all just chatter. But if one or both of these gentlemen were to become an option for one of the roles in an upcoming Star Wars movies (and I’m sure you all adore hypotheticals), would it be something you could get behind?
