Rumors have been swirling for weeks now about the casting of Lex Luthor in the upcoming Man Of Steel sequel, the much-talked-about Batman vs. Superman, for which Ben Affleck was just controversially cast as the Caped Crusader. Names like Mark Strong and Bryan Cranston have been floating around for the Superman nemesis, which quite possibly might just be wishful thinking on the part of a very hopeful Internet.
Cosmic Book News claims to have exclusively learned that Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston has been cast as Lex Luthor and has signed on for a multi-film deal to make at least six “appearances,” similar to how Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury shows throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The site, which attributes their scoop to unnamed sources, says that Warner Bros. is waiting to make the official announcement until Cranston’s hit AMC series concludes at the end of September.
At this point, there’s only one primary source of this story – CBN – and they have not named their sources and WB has not make any official announcements. So, this should be treated as rumor for now, although, it’d be pretty kick-ass if it turns out to be true. Although, if Cranston, who somehow made the world love him as a crystal meth-cooking drug kingpin, does play Lex Luthor against Henry Cavill’s Superman, they might have audiences rooting for the villain!
We’ll keep you posted as news and confirmations comes in.
