After being in production for what felt like an eternity Mad Max: Fury Road‘s promotional campaign is revving its engines hardcore for release next summer. The latest film in director George Miller‘s post-apocalyptic action saga has in recent days had a teaser poster and four character posters unveiled to the world. Yesterday Miller came to the San Diego Comic-Con for a panel in the fabled Hall H to present the first footage from Fury Road and what the gathered masses saw brought down the house.
Today the Comic-Con trailer for Fury Road has been made available to be watched by all courtesy of Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow, albeit in a slightly shorter form but in shiny high-definition. You can watch it here below.
Damn, now this is a Mad Max movie. A silent loner with a badass Bellflower car and plenty of ammunition taking on an unstoppable army of crazed wasteland marauders with their own fleet of demonically tricked-out death machines. The action sequences look insane and imaginative on a scale Miller has never attempted before, while Tom Hardy nails the laconic cool and haunted resignation Mel Gibson brought to the role of Max in the first three movies that made him an international star. Charlize Theron packs an awesome artificial arm and a real “don’t mess with me, fellas” attitude. I love Hardy’s weary thumbs up to her.
Mad Max: Fury Road co-stars Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Nicholas Hoult, Zoe Kravitz, and Riley Keough. Hugh Keays-Byrne, who played the sinister Toecutter in the original Mad Max, returns as Max’s newest adversary Immortan Joe. For a brief flash in the trailer we get to see him putting on that creepily awesome skull breathing mask he sports in his character poster. Fury Road puts pedal to medal in 2D and 3D beginning on May 15, 2015.
