Subway Star Wars Jared Stormtroopers Abbey Road

Does “Imperial March”-ing make you hungry? When you come home after a long day searching for droids, do you need a snack? Well look no further Jedi, Wookies, Ewoks, stormtroopers, bounty hunters, Jawas, Banthas, Ganks (I could do this all day), and stuck-up, half-witted, scruffy-looking Nerf herders! The face of Subway, Jared Fogel, and members of the Boys & Girls Club of Bridgeport, CT, (home of the first Subway ever) joined some Star Wars Stormtroopers who happened to be in the neighborhood, to celebrate twofold on Thursday, August 28, 2014, in New York City. It’s Subway’s 49th birthday this year, so they brought some of their friends from the Club where they started to promote Disney XD’s new Star Wars: Rebels series.

For the months of September and October, fans can stop into SUBWAY to receive a special Star Wars: Rebel bag, free with every kids meal purchase!

The new series, set five years before Star Wars: Episode IV: A New Hope, premieres on October 3, 2014 Disney with a special called, Star Wars Rebels: Spark of Redemption. The rest of the series starts on October 13th on Disney XD, Monday nights at 9pm.

Jared became Subway’s spokesperson by losing 245 pounds using what is now called “The Subway Diet.” Jared himself feels a close connection to Star Wars. In his book, Jared, the Subway Guy: Winning Through Losing: 13 Lessons for Turning Your Life Around, co-written with Anthony Bruno, he uses this analogy about life’s goals: “You, being the hero, can’t overcome the Dark Side by taking out one clone trooper here and another clone trooper there. A real hero has to confront the big problem head-on, fly right into the Death Star and blow it to smithereens.”

I, for one, am excited about the possibilities. I want to be able to eventually order a “Ham Solo” with a “Leiamenade.” Hey — they have their own food namers. “Ham Solo” has been around for years. I’m just throwing another idea out there.
