It’s obvious that fans are eagerly awaiting the return of Game Of Thrones to HBO for its fifth season. For a long time, the network gave up very little about Season 5 until finally some images and the first trailer were released at the very end of January, with a Special called A Day In The Life coming soon after. This led to author George R.R. Martin, author of the Song Of Ice and Fire books the television series is based on, to characters are going to die in the upcoming season who do not die in his books.
That’s a lot to chew on after going for so many months with nothing.
Now, HBO has released the first poster for Season 5 — check it out here below.
The poster shows Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) coming face to face with one of Daenerys Targaryen’s dragons — Drogon to be exact, the one of the three that the mother of dragons wasn’t able to lock away.
Along with the poster was the message “Rally the realm and spread the word. #GoTSeason5” with the air date of the season 5 premiere, April 12, 2015 at 9pm. Season 4 of Game Of Thrones was recently released on Blu-ray, DVD, and Instant Video, so there’s plenty of time to catch up before new episodes air.
Created for HBO by David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, Game Of Thrones stars Peter Dinklage, Maisie Williams, Emilia Clarke, Kit Harington, Lena Headey, Sophie Turner, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Natalie Dormer, and many more, including new faces for Season 5, Jonathan Pryce as High Sparrow, Alexander Diddig as Doran Martell, Toby Sebastian as Trystane Martell, Nell Tiger Free as Myrcella Baratheon, DeObia Oparei as Areo Hotah, Enzo Cilenti as Yezzan, Sand Jessica Henwick as Nymeria (Nym), Rosabell Laurenti Sellers as Tyene Sand, and Keisha Castle-Hughes as Obara Sand.
