‘Sharknado 3’: Behind The Sharks (Video)

Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No! Header

Sharks! Sharks everywhere! If I could’ve bought stock in shark before this summer, I’d be rich right now. First Jaws, the original summer blockbuster turned 40. Coincidentally, or maybe not, there were numerous shark attacks reported in the Carolina area making national news. And of course, we are smack-dab in the middle of Discovery Channel’s annual smorgasbord of shark related science (and occasional fiction) known as Shark Week.

Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No! could not have picked a better time to come out. Now we get a couple of “behind the shark” videos to prep us for the oncoming storms.

Check out both videos below.

Members of the cast and crew including director Anthony Ferrante and stars Ian Ziering (Finn…LOL), Frankie “Malcolm” Muniz, Tara Reid and more, discuss the bits that make this third Sharknado film a cut above the rest. They mention the changing plot, as this time the Sharknado (or Sharkacane) is roving down the “feast”ern seaboard from Washington DC towards Orlando, and how cool it was to shoot at Universal Studios, using the theme park as is. You’ll see some epic moments like Finn using his now patented chainsaw to kill a shark in front of a live cheering audience, and a great white riding up the roller coaster.

The second video focuses on the FOMO-factor behind the Sharknado franchise. That BTW, is “Fear of missing out.” The stars discuss the twitter response, how it toppled Kim and Kanye’s wedding, and how it has achieved and maintained its cult classic status.

The beauty of these ridiculously hilarious movies is that they must up the ante from each prior film. After LA and New York, more sets and more stars were needed. I mean this is the epic series that brought us a guy getting swallowed, only to chainsaw himself out of the shark, and then in the sequel cut a flying shark in two with a huge chainsaw.

Syfy synopsis:

After the original Sharknado swept across Los Angeles, and Sharknado 2: The Second One, turned its deadly fury on New York City, be on the look out for Sharknado 3 and the next city the Sharknado will hit!

Run like the wind! Hide where you can! The Sharknado is back and this time, the entire east coast is in the eye of the storm. Shearing winds of teeth and death will ravage the Eastern Seabord from Washington D.C. all the way down to Orlando, Florida. It’s up to Fin, April, David Hasselhoff, and a horde of celebrity cameos to save the entire country!

Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No! hits SyFy on Wednesday July 22nd at 9:00pm ET.
