Star Wars: Battlefront -- X-Wing VR Mission

Earlier this week we saw a trailer for a Star Trek virtual reality game called Star Trek: Bridge Crew. But don’t worry, Star Wars is getting in on the VR game as well.

It’s very brief, but a preview was shown during Sony’s E3 2016 presentation for a VR experience called Star Wars: Battlefront — X-Wing VR Mission. You can read more about this Star Wars VR game and check out the preview video below.

Here’s more on the game from James Svensson, a producer at developer Criterion Games:

On behalf of everyone at Criterion Games and DICE, I’m really excited to be able to share the first details about Star Wars Battlefront: X-Wing VR Mission, coming exclusively to PlayStation VR later this year.

At Criterion, putting players directly into the heart of a vehicle gaming experience is one of our biggest passions. With games like our Burnout series, the Need for Speed games we’ve made, and even the speeder bike missions a lot of you played in Star Wars Battlefront, this focus has been deeply felt. And now we’re applying it to something new, something really special.

Piloting an X-Wing is an aspect of the Star Wars universe many of us have dreamed of experiencing. It’s something from the films we remember watching with awe, and even reenacted throughout our lives.

Virtual reality brings us one step closer to realizing this amazing dream of piloting an X-wing in space. With this incredible new platform, you will be instantaneously transported from the comforts of your living room to an X-Wing cockpit in space. And with the artists at Criterion and DICE meticulously crafting every authentic detail, the experience feels more real than you can imagine.

Once you look outside your ship, you’ll start to take in and appreciate the sheer magnitude of the environment in which you’re sitting. Sure, you may think you know that a Blockade Runner or a Star Destroyer are big, but once you’re firing at Imperial forces alongside their hulls as you maneuver around their defenses, then you’ll truly comprehend the enormity of these starships. It’s intensely exciting!

Best of all, this amazing offering will be free for all owners of Star Wars Battlefront on PS4. Millions of you have joined the Star Wars Battlefront community since the game’s launch in December and we couldn’t think of a better reward for that loyalty and take your experience to a completely new level.

We hope you enjoy playing it as much as we are enjoying making it.

All of our E3 2016 coverage can be found right here if you missed anything.
