Jamie Chung in Gotham

It’s fair to say that Fox expanding the X-Men franchise to TV has been a success. Following the hit Legion, the studio will be releasing an untitled X-Men series from creator Matt Nix (Burn Notice). The show will focus on a family with children who have mutant powers, who are on the run and encounter an underground network of mutants who will protect them from a government agency.

The first to be cast was Blair Redford, who will play Sam, the leader of the underground mutant network. Now he will be joined by Jamie Chung, who will play Clarice Fong, aka Blink, a mutant that we first saw in X-Men: Days of Future Past. More on the story below.

Marvel was the first to report on the news. While Chung will play a character that we have all seen before, it is unclear if this will, indeed, be the same Blink from DOFP. As previously reported, this untitled X-Men series shares a closer connection to the film franchise than Legion does. So the character may be the same. But because DOFP screwed up the chronology and continuity, it’s hard to believe that this is the same Blink.

The site describes the character as:

Clarice Fong, better known as Blink, a sarcastic and lively tomboy. Clarice’s naturally strong exuberance has taken a hit after a sudden and traumatic upheaval of her life. As she adjusts to the new people and places that are suddenly “˜home,’ Clarice is slowly becoming herself again. Blink is an established character from the X-Men comics with the power of teleportation.

As for the character, Blink can create teleportation portals that allow multiple people to enter and exit at the same time. While she has made many appearances in the comics and various iterations of animated TV series, but she made her first big screen live-action appearance in X-Men: DOFP.

Chung can currently be seen in Gotham, where she plays Valerie Vale. She also had roles in Once Upon A Time, Zack Snyder’s Sucker Punch, and two Hangover sequels.

X-Men: Apocalypse director Bryan Singer will direct the pilot episode.
