The Matrix

The folks over at CinemaSins are taking on The Matrix for their popular “Everything Wrong With…” series.

This is only for the first movie (though the sequels might be mentioned), which is incredibly popular and the narrator of the videos’ all-time favorite, but as they say, no movie is without sin.

You can see how many sins The Matrix commits below.

The Movie God   |

Jason Voorhees Friday the 13th Image

It’s being reported that producers Michael Bay, Brad Fuller, and Andrew Form of Platinum Dunes may have found their director for the next installment in the Friday the 13th franchise.

It’s being reported that David Bruckner has entered into negotiations for the movie, which has already has a cozy Friday the 13th release date in 2015 set. Bruckner wrote and directed 2007′s The Signal, and wrote and directed a segment of the found footage horror anthology V/H/S titled “Amateur Night,” in which some guys meet some girls at a bar and bring them to a hotel where things don’t go quite as planned.

‘BioShock Infinite’ Barbershop Quartet Cosplayers Sing “God Only Knows” (Video)
The Movie God   |

BioShock Infinite "God Only Knows"

One of the coolest things about BioShock Infinite is the collection of songs you hear throughout the game that are old-timey covers of popular tunes that won’t be recorded until decades after the 1912-set story. Some of the songs covered include “Everybody Wants to Rule the World,” “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun,” and “Tainted Love.”

My personal favorite of these songs comes early on in the game, before the story really gets started and you’re just walking around taking in the incredible world you’re visiting. When you walk past a certain point, a floating stage ship appears carrying a barbershop quartet who sing a lovely rendition of the Beach Boys classic “God Only Knows.” It’s one of many surreal and memorable moments that make Infinite a must-play.

PAX East was recently held and lots of great cosplayers attended the convention. One group of said cosplayers went as the BioShock barbershop quartet, and not only did they look the part but also delivered the song as well.

You can see a video of the quartet in the game (if you haven’t played yet) and a video of the cosplayers singing below.

Blu-ray Review: The Family
BAADASSSSS!   |

The Family

The Family
Blu-ray/DVD/Digital Copy l DVD l Streaming
Directed by Luc Besson
Starring Robert De Niro, Michelle Pfeiffer, John D’Leo, Dianna Agron, Tommy Lee Jones, and Stan Carp
20th Century Fox Home Entertainment
Release Date: December 17, 2013

Giovanni Manzoni (Robert DeNiro) was once one of the most feared and respected mob bosses in New York. Times have certainly changed. For some unexplained reason Manzoni turned stoolie for the FBI and was moved into the Witness Relocation Program under the supervision of veteran agent Robert Stansfield (Tommy Lee Jones). Now he’s Fred Blake, a nondescript writer living in a small town in Normandy, France with his wife Maggie (Michelle Pfeiffer), son Warren (John D’Leo), and daughter Bella (Dianna Agron). The family hates being so far removed from their familiar Brooklyn neighborhood and all of their friends and relatives, but they try to make the best of a lousy situation.

Their efforts don’t last though; unable to deal with the dual pressures of maintaining a false identity and the inquisitive, somewhat hostile townspeople, the Blakes soon revert to their old ways of violence and corruption, with Stansfield working desperately to keep them in line so their cover isn’t blown. Fred’s obsession with getting rid of the brown water that runs through the pipes of their quaint French home and Warren’s escalating criminal behavior at school eventually bring down the full wrath of Don Luchese (Stan Carp), the imprisoned rival Mafia boss Fred snitched on. The don dispatches a team of heavily armed assassins to Normandy to make the Blakes a blood-stained memory. Unable to depend on further protection from Stansfield and the other Feds, Fred and his family must show the mob back home that a simple name change doesn’t make the Blakes any less dangerous than before.
