‘Reservoir Dogs’ Video Game Let’s You Pull Off Heists As Your Favorite Characters (Video)
The Movie God   |

Reservoir Dogs: Bloody Days

A video game based on Quentin Tarantino’s 1992 crime drama Reservoir Dogs is on the way titled Reservoir Dogs: Bloody Days.

The game is a top-down shooter from Big Star Games, in a partnership with Lionsgate, which sees players taking on the role of one of the film’s characters—Mr. Blonde, Mr. Blue, Mr. Brown, Mr. Orange, Mr. Pink, or Mr. White—and attempting to pull off heists.

You can read much more about the game and watch a brief reveal video, which shares some peeks at the ultra-violent gameplay you’d expect from a game based on Tarantino’s work, below.

‘Power Rangers’ Cast Puts A New Spin On “It’s Morphin Time”
eelyajekiM   |

Power Rangers header

As a kid who grew up in the 90s, I practically lived and breathed Saturday morning TV, and nothing said get up early to watch shows than the Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers. It has been nearly a quarter of a century since the American version of the popular Japanese Super Sentai aired. Since then, over 20 different themed Power Rangers shows have aired and two different theatrical films were released.

Now, a whole new version will hit theaters next week in Power Rangers. Directed by Dean Israelite (Earth To Echo), the film is a callback to the first show that aired in the U.S. But this time there is a whole new group of kids: Jason Scott (Dacre Montgomery) Kimberly Hart (Naomi Scott), Billy Cranston (RJ Cyler), Trini (Becky G), and Zack (Ludi Lin) who will morph into a new team to fight a different kind of Rita Replusia (Elizabeth Banks).

We were fortunate enough to sit down with a group of our fellow journalists to talk to the cast and crew about making the film and appealing to the older fans while also drawing in new audiences. We also learned about the fight training and what it was like for the young cast to star opposite Banks. Check it all out here below.

Movie Review: Power Rangers (2017)

Power Rangers team header

Power Rangers
Director: Dean Israelite
Screenwriter: John Gatins
Cast: Dacre Montgomery, Naomi Scott, RJ Cyler, Becky G, Ludi Lin, Bill Hader, Bryan Cranston, Elizabeth Banks
Distributor: Lionsgate
Rated PG-13 | 124 Minutes
Release Date: March 24, 2017

“Different Colors. Different Kids. Different Colored Kids.” The Power Rangers are the zeitgeist of 90’s Saturday morning television. But the series isn’t exactly the sparkling example of quality acting and writing. None of that really mattered as a kid as long as the title heroes defeated the monster of the week. So in an age where TV shows are getting the big-screen adaptation treatment, it was only a matter of time before studios would take their eyes on our Saturday morning cartoon favorites.

As fans got older so did the franchise. The Power Rangers constantly changed teams, themes, and stories. But one thing remained true: it was always going to be campy. However, with this new reboot, titled simply Power Rangers, we are introduced to a few more bold ideas, like the introduction of a gay character as a ranger, and one ranger who has Autism. These new ideas are a reflection of the world that we live in today, gives way to those who are trying to find out who they are the impression that they have someone they can relate to. That in itself gives hope and inspiration while also being fun and nostalgic. My full review of the film below.

Retro Movie Review: ‘Dirty Dancing’ (1987) – Fathom Events

Dirty Dancing Fathom Events 05

Dirty Dancing
Available now on Blu-ray
Written by Eleanor Bergstein
Directed by Emile Ardolino
Starring Patrick Swayze, Jennifer Grey, Cynthia Rhodes, Jerry Orbach, Kelly Bishop
Vestron Films
Rated PG-13 | 100 minutes
Release date: August 21st, 1987
Fathom Events screenings: January 29th & February 1st, 2017

Frances “Baby” Houseman (Jennifer Grey) thought it would be a regular summer in the Catskills with her family. A daddy’s girl, she and her mom, dad, and sister Lisa (Jerry Orbach, Kelly Bishop, Jane Brucker) went to Kellerman’s resort, that catered to the rich, complete with Ivy-League waiters. Kellerman’s also had the dance people, who gave lessons and entertained the guests. Baby, who wanted to be in the Peace Corps and always believed the best, was floored by the “dirty dancing,” and dazzled by Johnny Castle (Patrick Swayze), lead dancer. After an impromptu dance lesson, Baby inadvertently ended up trying to help the other lead dancer Penny (Cynthia Rhodes), who got knocked up by one of the waiters, Robbie (Max Cantor). Stepping into her mambo shoes, Johnny trained Baby to dance, and they fell in love. No summer romance would sizzle unless it was forbidden, and theirs was no different. This was the story of Dirty Dancing, which propelled a cast of virtual unknowns into instant fame.

More below.

At long last another trailer for the Power Rangers has arrived. It was beginning to look like the first trailer was the only one we were going to get considering that it’s January and the film is going to be released in March.

This time we finally get to see the five title heroes in their morphed up forms, and a glimpse of the five new zords and their unified Megazord form. Plus our very first look at Bryan Cranston as Zordon and Bill Hader as Alpha 5. Check it out below.

‘John Wick: Chapter 2’ Trailer: How Good It Is To See Mr. Wick So Soon
eelyajekiM   |

John Wick Chapter 2 header

Of course, he’s back. Having a one and done film for John Wick (Keanu Reeves) didn’t seem appropriate for the man, the myth, and the legend. So the successful film about the former assassin who came out of retirement after the son of a crime boss killed his beloved dog (which was also a gift from his dying wife) is getting a well-deserved sequel, and it looks like it will live up to expectations.

Lionsgate has released the second trailer for John Wick: Chapter 2, and the action can only go up from here. Especially since there is a mark on him.

Check out the latest trailer here below.

Movie Review: La La Land
eelyajekiM   |

La La Land

La La Land
Director: Damien Chazelle
Screenwriter: Damien Chazelle
Cast: Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, John Legend, Rosemarie DeWitt, J. K. Simmons
Distributor: Summit Entertainment
Rated PG-13 | 128 minutes
Release Date: December 9, 2016

There’s really no simple way to put this, but La La Land is one of those rare, unforgettable movie going experiences that will be talked about for years to come. And that doesn’t even sum up how good it is. Damien Chazelle‘s follow-up to Whiplash reminds us of why we go to the movies, and believe me, this is a movie that needs to be seen in a theater.

The film pays homage to the days of Hollywood where Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers graced the screen with beautiful songs and elegant dances. But it is also a love letter to the luster and sparkle of Los Angeles, which attracts the hopeless romantics and the dreamers hoping to find love and reach for the stars, all the while learning that the city can also be crushing and unforgiving. In the end, Chazelle’s latest film is a true work of art that cannot be missed. Check out the full review below.
