Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 header image

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is the 15th film of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The sequel continues the adventures of Star-Lord aka Peter Quill (Chris Pratt), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax (Dave Bautista), Rocket (voice of Bradley Cooper), and Baby Groot (voice of Vin Diesel) as they travel across the cosmos in search of their next job. Peter struggles to keep his new family together while also trying to discover the secret of his mysterious father and stopping an enemy from destroying the entire galaxy. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes’ aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.

We, along with our fellow members of the press, were recently invited to attend the film’s press day and chat with the cast, director James Gunn, and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige about the sequel, working with new co-stars, and the future of the MCU. Find out more about the film below.

Movie Review: ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2’

Yondu and Rocket in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2
Director: James Gunn
Screenwriter: James Gunn
Cast: Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki, Chris Sullivan, Sean Gunn, Sylvester Stallone, Kurt Russell
Distributor: Walt Disney Pictures
Rated PG-13 | 136 Minutes
Release Date: May 5, 2017

James Gunn‘s Guardians of the Galaxy was once considered one of the riskiest films that Marvel Studios could ever release. It was an unknown property which cast three relative unknowns and gave two A-listers voice roles. However, the film’s surprising success proved that a quirky, hilarious, musically-charged space opera could work as a superhero property. Who would have thought a roguish space outlaw, an alien assassin, an alien manic, a gun-toting raccoon, and a talking tree would be our favorite a-holes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe?

Now they are back for round two in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. As with all sequels to a universally loved film, expectations run unbelievably high. Fortunately, Gunn never misses a beat. It’s absolutely terrific and just as fun, if not more fun, than the first. But it’s also one of the few Marvel films that’s emotionally driven. Check out my full review below.

eelyajekiM   |

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Soundtrack List

It really wouldn’t be much of a Guardians of the Galaxy movie without an Awesome Mix soundtrack. We’ve heard little teases of the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 soundtrack from trailers and various TV spots, but James Gunn has said that some of those songs won’t appear on the final soundtrack cut. Having seen the film yesterday, there is some truth to that. But there are also some very welcomed additions.

Now the full soundtrack list for the movie has been revealed, and like any Awesome Mix soundtrack, there is an eclectic mix of ’70s and ’80s tunes that sure to get you singing along. Check out the full list plus some quotes from Gunn as to why he picked some of them.

‘Cloak & Dagger’ Trailer: Teen-Friendly Show With A Marvel Superhero Hook
eelyajekiM   |

Cloak & Dagger

Marvel Entertainment’s TV series aren’t exactly quality television. They’re pure escapism. The best way to describe these shows is cheesy, substandard, but somehow hypnotic and fun. That’s all before the fatigue starts to set in. That being said, it’s hard to deny the success of these shows with their being renewed for new seasons.

But now they are ready to dive into young adult territory with Cloak & Dagger. The new show will center on two teenage runaways who discover they have a mysterious connection to each other that allows them to access their superhuman powers. A trailer for the new show has been released, and you can check it out below.

‘Captain Marvel’ Will Be Directed By ‘Half Nelson’ and ‘It’s Kind Of A Funny Story’ Team
eelyajekiM   |

Captain Marvel

Marvel Studios certainly has an eye for finding talented directors. In their search for a director for Captain Marvel, the studio considered Niki Caro (Whale Rider, MacFarland, USA), Lesli Linka Glatter (TV’s Mad Men), and Lorene Scafaria (Seeking a Friend for the End of the World).

But it seems like those reports were off just a bit. There’s word that the duo who have worked on Half Nelson, It’s Kind of a Funny Story, and Mississippi Grind together, Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, will direct Marvel’s first female-led superhero flick starring Brie Larson. More on the story below.

The Future Of Marvel Studios: Spider-Man, R-Rated Movies, James Gunn, and More
eelyajekiM   |

Spider-Man homecoming header

Though we have an idea for the remainder of Phase Three of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we don’t know much about Phase Four. Besides the fact that the first film to christen the new Phase after Avengers 4 will be Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, we can only guess that there will be a nice mix of new heroes and sequels. Then, of course, there is figuring out who should be the new Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, etc.

But the future extends further than just beyond the films themselves. There’s also the deal sharing Spider-Man with Sony Pictures, working with directors like Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2‘s James Gunn, and whether or not they’ll be doing an R-rated movie anytime soon. The studio recently gave a rare opportunity to THR to go inside the fortress known as Walt Disney Studios. There they spoke with Marvel Studios’ president Kevin Feige, and discovered what the future holds for Marvel and how they keep their success rate so high. Find out more about this below.

eelyajekiM   |

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 header image

It’s customary for true Marvel fans to stay throughout the entire credits of any Marvel Studios film. Whatever scene appears during said credits will either be a nice segue into the next chapter of the MCU or a teaser.

There is no standard number when it comes to how many end-credits scenes a film should have. But we now know Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will have five of them. More on the story below.

eelyajekiM   |

Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 Team

Never has there been a director to direct an entire trilogy of Marvel films in the age of the MCU, though a few have come close with Jon Favreau on the first two Iron Man films, Joss Whedon on two Avengers films, and The Russo Brothers with the latter two Captain America films. (Thor has had three different directors.) But James Gunn is set to become the first to have directed three for Marvel. That’s right, Gunn has confirmed that he will be directing Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. More on the story below.
