REMINDER: ‘American Gods’ Finally Arrives In Two Days
The Movie God   |

American Gods Banner

Fans of Neil Gaiman‘s 2001 novel American Gods have been waiting a long time for the book to come to life on the small screen, and this weekend it finally becomes a reality. The series will premiere on STARZ on Sunday night at 9PM EST with the debut episode, titled “The Bone Orchard.”

While you wait out these last two days there are, thankfully, plenty of things to help pass the time. STARZ has released lots of promo videos, including a featurette called “A Storm is Brewing” with cast and crew discussing the show, and a clip in which Shadow Moon gets some advice from Low Key Lyesmith.

You can find these two videos below.

‘American Gods’: A TV Series That Fans Of The Book Will Love

American Gods poster banner premiere date

[At SXSW 2017, we screened the first episode of the upcoming Starz series American Gods, based on the Neil Gaiman novel. Here are our thoughts.]

SXSW 2017 – Shadow Moon is a man alone. His life is returned, but his life is gone. He’s got a plan all set up, but no one’s available to help him with it.

Lucky for Shadow, it’s Wednesday.

It’s no spoiler to tell you that about the protagonist of a 16-year-old book. What I can’t tell you, however, is why. American Gods Episode 1.1 “The Bone Orchard,” the pilot of the new STARZ show based on Neil Gaiman’s novel of the same name, is full of characters that are suffering from difficult-to-explain juxtapositions. Rather that frustrate viewers, however, that fact about the show is sure to intrigue; to provide an alluring mist not too different than the white curls of smoke wafting from the white buffalo’s eyes in the series’ trailer before the beast telepathically utters: Believe.

SXSW 2017: ‘American Gods’ May Very Well Be Your Next TV Obsession (Spoiler-Free)
Tom Cheredar   |

American Gods SXSW 2017

You’ve probably heard quite a bit of buzz about the forthcoming big-budget television adaptation of American Gods coming to Starz this April, but unless you’re a fan of author Neil Gaiman himself, it’s likely you aren’t prepared for the onslaught of fandom that will come when the show debuts.

I say this having just finished the premiere screening of the pilot at SXSW 2017 in Austin, TX along with nearly the entire cast — most of whom seemed visibly more excited having just witnessed everything they’d been involved in come together on screen.

‘American Gods’ Goes Buffalo Big At SXSW 2017

SXSW 2017 American Gods White Buffalo SXSW2017

“Are you a God?” asked Shadow. The buffalo-headed man shook his head. Shadow thought, for a moment, that the creature was amused. “I am the land,” he said.

SXSW 2017 – DAY 1: As if focused on making those words manifest, the White Buffalo stands above the southwestern plains once more. Resplendent, humongous, and as white as the new driven snows of the west, the statue stands tall here at the American Gods display at SXSW 2017 currently underway in Austin, TX. A white bison, covered in furry hair surrounded by the boneyard, and some relatively subtle swag makes for a fan-happy scene here at South By SouthWest.

Check out the image above of the display, which you can visit at SXSW through Monday.
