Firefly Cast

Just recently we found out that the cast of Joss Whedon‘s cult classic series, Firefly, would be reuniting at San Diego Comic-Con in celebration of the 10-year anniversary of the show. It will be the first time the show has ever had a panel at Comic-Con, though if it had the popularity it has now back when it first arrived, surely this would be one of many memorable panels. Ah, yes…life may be too damn short for ifs and maybes, but they fit perfectly into dreams.

But alas, some good news is to be had! It’s being reported that a brand spankin’ new Firefly TV special titled Browncoats Unite is set to air November 11th on Science Channel.

Firefly

This year’s San Diego Comic-Con convention is still a couple of weeks off, but already geeks who will be in attendance have something special to look forward to.

For the first time ever, Firefly will be making its way to Comic-Con 2012.

Don’t get too excited, however—it’s not to announce the show’s return or anything along those lines. The panel is to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the fan-favorite sci-fi western, which was canceled far too soon an immensely fast-moving decade ago. It will be held on Friday, July 13 at 12:30 p.m. in Ballroom 20.

Attention Browncoats: ‘Firefly’ To Return To Cable; Is This Our Last Chance To Save It?

As the years have flown by, more and more people have come to realize just how good Joss Whedon‘s prematurely canceled sci-fi/western, Firefly, really was. The faithful fanbase has become an army who have supported and fought for the revival of the show without rest, but with the ever-growing fear that their efforts were futile.

Yes, it is true that a lot of time has passed since the show’s cancellation and the dying breath that was the feature film follow-up, Serenity. Yes, it is true that hope dwindles away more and more with every passing day. But all is not lost…not yet!

Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Firefly is returning to basic cable for the first time since 2008. The Science Channel has acquired the rights to the one and only season of the show, and will air them complete with some brand new extras to sweeten the pot and get people to watch. What kind of extras, you ask? Well, rock star physicist and host of the Science Channel’s Sci-Fi Science, Dr. Michio Kaku, will wrap up each episode by discussing the “theoretical science behind the show’s sci-fi concepts.” Yes, this insanely cool. If you’ve never seen an episode of Sci-Fi Science, check it out immediately!

So how can we use this to increase the chances of the resurrection of Firefly becoming a reality, and would star Nathan Fillion even bother coming back if he had the chance? Click over now to find out!

Sci-Fi Science: Physics of the Impossible

A new TV series is just about to debut on the Science channel called Sci-Fi Science: Physics of the Impossible. The show is hosted by quite possibly the smartest dude ever to live, Dr. Michio Kaku, and explores the science fiction creations that we know without a shadow of a doubt to be futuristic and fantastical impossibilities, and offers realistic ways to bring them into existence.

One of the episodes is set to cover a topic that will be near and dear to our very own geek hearts: lightsabers! The episode will take a look at the fictional super-weapon and then try and figure out a way to actually create one. Whether they accomplish such a thing is unknown and rather unlikely, but hell, we all just won’t be able to help but watch and see for ourselves.

Head on over to the other side to read the show’s synopsis and watch a short clip from the lightsaber episode, as well as a clip from their parallel universe episode.
