‘Blade Runner 2049’ Trailer: There’s More To This Futuristic Mystery
eelyajekiM   |

Blade Runner 2049

Warner Bros. has just unveiled the newest trailer for Denis Villeneuve‘s Blade Runner 2049, and it asks more questions than it answers. The timing of all of this seems a bit odd considering that WB has a panel at this weekend’s SDCC, but who am I to complain about a brand new trailer for one of the most anticipated films of the year. Plus that just leaves more time for some other WB films that we are interested in.

But that is beside the point. Here we see a few more details about Officer K’s (Ryan Gosling) case and why he must go out of his way to look into the past to find an aged Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford). More on the trailer below.

‘Suicide Squad 2’: Jaume Collet-Serra Now The Top Choice To Direct DC Films Sequel
BAADASSSSS!   |

Jaume Collet-Serra Top Choice To Direct Suicide Squad 2

Ever since David Ayer opted to take the reins on Gotham City Sirens in lieu of the sequel to his 2016 comic book action blockbuster Suicide Squad, it looked like Task Force X would require a new commander to call the shots on their next big adventure if the DC Films sequel was to be ready in time for its undated 2019 release.

The search for Suicide Squad 2‘s new director has not yet ended, but the current front-runner for the job is now Jaume Collet-Serra. Best known for making modestly budgeted action and horror hits like Non-Stop and The Shallows, Collet-Serra has seized the top contender position from Mel Gibson. Previous candidates also included Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland), Daniel Espinosa (Life), and Blade: Trinity director David Goyer.

It began with the ’14 Godzilla, and was continued with this year’s Kong: Skull Island. ‘Justice League’: Danny Elfman To Compose Score
BAADASSSSS!   |

Danny Elfman

Now that Joss Whedon has taken on the responsibility of completing production on Justice League in time for its release this fall following Zack Snyder‘s departure from the movie due to a death in his family, he has brought on the always amazing Danny Elfman to compose the score for the much-anticipated DC Films blockbuster.

The hiring of Elfman comes just as Whedon is about to commence with the filming of additional scenes in London. Obviously this isn’t Elfman’s first time creating original music for a big-budget superhero movie; his score for Tim Burton’s first Batman in 1989 captured the film’s madness, melancholy, adventure, and Gothic atmosphere perfectly and continues to influence composers to this day. He also created the themes for the first TV series of The Flash, which aired for one season from 1990-1991, and Batman: The Animated Series.

Kevin Feige On DC Rivalry, R-Rated Marvel Movies, Venom Spinoff
eelyajekiM   |

Kevin Feige Comic-Con #4

For the past 10 years or so, Marvel Studios has been king of the superhero movie genre. So not only has other competing studios caught on to their success, but they have been trying to mimic it. Though there have been attempts to make their own shared universe work, some studios realized that it takes a little more effort to build one as massive as the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But Marvel doesn’t really get all the credit. Despite their mounting success, they have yet to release a female-led superhero film. Something that Warner Brothers’ Wonder Woman not only has accomplished but shattered the glass ceiling.

Others had to make deals. Like Sony finally sharing Spider-Man. And Marvel finds themselves on the other side looking in as Fox has proven that R-rated superhero films could work. Kevin Feige talked about all these things during a Facebook-live event, and you can find out more about what he had to say about it below.

Patty Jenkins Isn’t Signed On To Direct ‘Wonder Woman 2’ Yet
eelyajekiM   |

Patty Jenkins directs Wonder Woman

It wouldn’t be at all surprising for a studio to sign a director on for a sequel after a film’s success. Given how Wonder Woman shattered all expectations, one would hope that director Patty Jenkins would already be signed on to direct Wonder Woman 2. There were reports going around saying she was.

However, that doesn’t seem to be quite the case. While Jenkins isn’t signed on, Warner Bros. will start a negotiation process with her very soon. More on the story below.
