Conversations with GoD: Buckshot of ‘Dirty Rig’

Manic Rekallism   |  @   |

Geeks of Doom’s resident music fiend from the UK Manic Rage has a chat with Dirty Rig’s Buckshot and finds out that the bassist is a geek when it comes to video games, beer, and, ahem … another fun activity.

Dirty Rig: Rock Did It“There will always be a place within Rock’n’Roll’s hallowed halls for beer-drinkin’ hell-raisin’ fuck-yer-girlfriend kinda sloppy wasted guitar-driven feel-good metal punk. Hello Dirty Rig. Like the pre-label Guns N’ Roses or the basement antics of the embryonic Aerosmith, Dirty Rig epitomizes the excitement to personally personify the danger that’s at the heart of good solid hard rock. It’s not safe. It’s certainly not politically correct. With songs like “Suck It,” “Drunk Again,” “Dogs,” “Hot Porno Star” and “If You See Kaye” (a modern take on an old blues theme), Dirty Rig is rife with sexual come-ons, drug references and the kind of fuck-you attitude that fuels the punkrock aesthetic. But it’s not angry. It just wants to rock for the sake of rock itself. You could say that “Cities” and title track “Rock Did It” has just a touch of frontman Kory Clarke‘s leftover warnings from his years (’90 to ’95) as lead singer of Warrior Soul. But all that’s behind him now.

So fuck art, let’s dance.” “” Mike Greenblatt at http://www.dirtyrig.com

So with their current album Rock Did It tearing up the stereos of anyone who listens whilst getting you drunk through sheer power alone, Dirty Rig are a force of MIGHT to be reckoned with. Bringing back rock to the masses the way it should be done, you should search for this album.

I advocate it. I personally spent the time to find this on British shores. You WILL too. Because Dirty Rig know how to rock hard, I thought it best to get the opinions from their very own bassist known only as Buckshot, the guy who lives and breathes rock and can drink your mother under the table.

Dirty RigGeeks of Doom: Hey Buckshot! How’s life?

Buckshot: Everything is all good brother. Just sitting back drinking some beers, put a new screen in my bowl, and jamming to some Nebula.

G.o.D.: You recently spent time here in the UK, how was the hospitality?

BS: It was really cool. It was actually pretty fucking cool. It’s just a different buzz over there. No trends, no bullshit just good music. We had this band with us called Deadeye and they were pretty fucking cool as well. Their singer had some killer bud and keep us pretty much wasted the whole time. Bongs Up, Brothers.

G.o.D.: How do you spend your time relaxing when you are not rocking your ass off? Enjoying a good ol’ weekend BBQ?

BS: Yeah man, I love cooking shit on the grill. I have the boom box cranking in the backyard with some good country music or AC/DC and just watching the burgers cook up while pounding some beers. You got to love summer.

G.o.D.: What were you doing before Dirty Rig happened?

BS: Just pretty much chillin’ out at the bar, watching TV, or playing video games. I love playing video games. Shoot ’em up games though. Well I do love Madden as well though. I ate a lot of Taco Bell, I know that. There was one by my old apartment. We used to get all drunk on cheap 40 oz. beers and play video games all the time. Broke ass bitches all the way. Cheap beer and Taco Bell every night.

G.o.D.: After all the touring, how far down the line are you with new material?

BS: Man Chas is in the studio right now. He just recorded this new tune he wrote. Shit we already got 11 songs recorded for the new CD. I am so fucking excited about this. It’s just bad ass. We are calling it Legends Fall.

G.o.D.: And when do we expect the new album to fall?

BS: We had some set backs so the new CD won’t be out till March 2008. Fucking blows, but what can you do? We will be going out at the end of March for a FULL EUROPEAN tour as well. We are so fucking excited. We also just got an offer to go to Australia and Japan as well. It’s going to be a busy 2008.

G.o.D.: You [Buckshot] personally interact with the fans, what’s your opinion on the fan interaction and their devotion/appreciation?

BS: I just love talking and meeting people. I am always the one who goes out into the crowd after each show. I love hearing people’s stories about getting drunk, arrested, or punching someone’s head in. Some bands out there think it’s cool to treat fans like shit. I remember when I was a kid and asked Dave Mustaine [of Megadeth] for an autograph and he told me no. Fuck him. I bought every fucking tape or CD he ever put out. Sign my fucking poster would ya. What a clown.

G.o.D.: Are you a Geek?

BS: That’s a funny question. Fuck yeah, I am a geek. We all are geeks. I am a geek when it comes to video games, beer, and eating pussy. Beers Up, Brothers & Sisters.
