The viral advertising campaign run by Warner Bros. for their upcoming feature The Dark Knight has been one of the most intricate and well designed secular viral campaigns ever. Enumerable websites have been set to represent everything from the Gotham newspaper to the train system. In addition, and on par with the Joker campaign, was the “I Believe in Harvey Dent” campaign to elect Dent to the position of Gotham District Attorney.
Awhile ago I signed up for the newsletter for the campaign. I would love to say it was simply because I had to stay abreast of what was happening on the viral marketing front. I would be lying. I signed up because I wanted to vote for Harvey Dent. If I didn’t, maybe my vote would be the vote missing that would eventually stop me from getting to see Two Face.
My logic is infallible. Shut up!
Needless to say, voting has finally opened, and you can head along to The Gotham Election Board, where you are able to vote for a variety of propositions, as well as for Mayor, Municipal Judge, and of course, the District Attorney.
To vote for anyone other than Harvey Dent will be a blow to Gothamites the world over, so make your voice heard. Election results will be released June 13, 2008.
I have to say of all the viral marketings thing of late, this one is the most interesting.
