Will James Cameron Direct The ‘Forbidden Planet’ Remake?

CameronIESB has gotten word from an inside source that James Cameron has a lot of interest in directing the remake of Forbidden Planet that’s in the works at Warner Brothers.

Apparently Cameron has had a lot of interest over the years, starting after he did Titanic. That never worked out and he hasn’t really done much else until now, working on his super-mega-epic sci-fi movie, Avatar.

Forbidden Planet has been in the news a bit recently due to Babylon 5 creator J. Michael Straczynski writing the script.

If you look back at our last story on the project, I mentioned how this project hinged on who directed Straczynski’s script (see ‘Forbidden Planet’ Will Be Something You’ve Never Seen Before). If James Cameron does decide to do it, I think that’d be a pretty freakin’ decent step towards making this sci-fi remake adventure something special.
