Marvel Studios’ Pres. Kevin Feige Hints At Loki’s Return In ‘The Avengers: Age Of Ultron’

Avengers Age Of Ultron title card

The last studio panel at Comic-Con is generally the biggest one. But when you have to follow up with news like the Batman Superman Movie announcement, or the massive X-Men: Days Of Future Past cast photo-op, you’d better have a nice ace up your sleeve. So not to be out done, Marvel made a pretty big announcement before handing off their panels to Thor: The Dark World, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Joss Whedon announced the title and villain for the sequel to The Avengers in just a few words: The Avengers: Age Of Ultron (read our thoughts here). In later interviews, the director said that even though this film happens before the release of Ant-Man – Hank Pym was the creator of the deadly robot – this film would be an origins story for Ultron. It has been reported that the film would not share the same story arc as the one seen in the recent comics. Hit the jump for more on the sequel and the possible return of Loki.

In an interview with Empire Magazine, Feige said that they went through multiple “of Ultron” titles before settling on “Age”:

We came up with a few titles, but every month a new comic book appeared, and that’s a great title. Age Of Ultron is a great title. We had a few other ‘Of Ultrons’, but that was the best one. So we’re borrowing that title, but taking storylines from decades of Avengers storylines.

Fan favorite villain Loki will make a return to Thor: The Dark World later this year, but could he possibly return to be the big bad villain in The Avengers: Age Of Ultron? Feige seems to think so.

We think Loki could be the big bad for us, for a long time,” said Feige. Seeing so many Lokis on the floor at Comic-Con tells the Marvel team “to keep following their instincts…

Interesting thought. As some of you may heard, Tom Hiddleston did make an appearance at Hall H in full Loki garb. He even chastised the attendees in his Loki persona. So to keep adding him would be a fan service, and maybe put some more money in the bank. But for him to be in The Avengers: Age Of Ultron, he would have to survive the events of Thor: The Dark World.

What are your thoughts on the title and possibility that Loki could be the villain for a long time?

  1. Loki = Turd Magnet.

Talk about a stereotypically bad Bad Guy.

  2. Loki is a hot property and Marvel knows it…the only ones who don’t like him are jealous little fan boys who live in momma’s basement…. they use juvenile phrases like ‘turd magnet’…. and date their hands.

  4. He is popular for his redemption values. If he looses that and becomes full villain, then he would loose his appeal. :/

  5. He is NOT stereotypical… that is why he is so popular such an epic ‘bad guy’. He has depth and character. He is not ‘evil’, but rather acts for good intentions and motives spurred by the need to be accepted by his father and redeem himself from ‘monstrous’ heritage.

  6. Redemption values LOL

He has none, He laughs when love is offered and then gets all Snidley Whiplash because he just loves doing bad things.

One Day when he has run his course, they will do the Bullshit of him telling Thor, I love ya Man’ and he will sacrifice himself to save the universe and everyone will shed a tear.

Then he will be brought back via another time line and the Bullshit will start anew!!

    Same ole Same Ole!!!!!

  7. It is sad that you feel like you need to troll to get attention. Honestly if you have valid arguments against the character, it would be better to outline them logically then be dismissive and flat out ignore the complexities of the characters that both Tom Hiddleston and the writers had put such effort into laying out for both the character and story line as a whole.

  8. I don’t need to troll, the topic of conversation is that dumbass loki. it’s a shame that you think any half way observant view is trolling when it is plain to anyone that is not a kid that he is a one dimensional character.

I’m going to say that either you are a kid, or someone who knows the actor or a complete moron.

    There is no other answer.
