The GoD List Banner

Each and every week, I, “Too Cold!” Henchman 21 and “Way Too Cold!” Empress Eve read a lot of comics. Seriously you guys, a lot of comics. Maybe too many comics. I mean, it is possible”¦ theoretically. Naturally, we look forward to some more than others. I mean, who doesn’t? So, let’s take a look into the depths of our pull lists, grab some comics, and we’ll let YOU know what the top books to look forward to are for the week of November 19, 2014. Single issues and trades, they’re all here.

It’s a special all Image hardcover edition because apparently they felt the need to drop three awesome collections out on the same week. Which I guess is cool because it’s not like I need money going into the Christmas season. But, I suppose I was just going to spend that money on gallons and gallons of egg nog and I may as well spend it on awesome comics. Which is exactly what we suggest you do on The GoD List!

The Kingdom of Dreams and Madness

Fans of the many great animated features to come out of Japan’s fabled Studio Ghibli are never happy to hear that the man behind the curtain, the master himself, Hayao Miyazaki, is retiring from making feature films. It’s something he has said in the past many times, but this time, with the release of his final film The Wind Rises having come and gone, it appears to be for real.

As depressing as all of that is, it turns out that filmmaker Mami Sunada was given unheard of access to Studio Ghibli to document how things work there and show Miyazaki, the writer and director of Castle in the Sky, My Friend Totoro, Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, Howl’s Moving Castle, Ponyo, and more, in his final days working as a filmmaker.

The result is a documentary titled The Kingdom of Dreams and Madness, and you can watch a trailer for the movie below. Think of it like Jiro Dreams of Sushi, but following a master filmmaker instead of a master sushi chef.

Disney Pixar The Good Dinosaur

Pixar’s The Good Dinosaur was originally slated for a 2014 release. But problems with the story forced the film’s original director, Bob Peterson, out, and pushed the film back to a November 2015 release. The first signs of trouble started to appear when Peterson was noticeably absent at the D23 Expo in 2013.

Since then Peter Sohn came on board as director to resolve some of the story issues that The Good Dinosaur was suffering from, and in a new report from The LA Times, we are getting a better understanding of why the film had to be pushed back, and what he has done to fix some of the problems. Hit the jump for more and to see a new image from the movie.
