A few months back, I did a review of the first chapter in Michael S. Bracco’s hauntingly fantastic webcomic series, The Creators. Well, I’ve just finished up the second and third chapters and once again have to acknowledge the exceptional story that Bracco has created.

“Imagination is power.” That’s the tagline of The Creators, and speaks volumes to the depth of the series thus far. While the main character, Maya, is forced into a harrowing journey of self discovery, chapters two and three take many unexpected turns and offer a broader perspective and history of the power that the girl possesses.

Bracco’s illustrations are perfectly congruent with his story, bringing forth grim, sorrowful, and hopeful emotions. Bracco is certainly at his best when it comes to the grotesque, yet beautiful creations that jump off of the page.

The Creators continues to amaze. With enthralling characters and heartfelt, powerful storylines, this is one of the best comic series around. I can’t wait to own it in trade paperback some day.
