Who better to make a grand appearance at Valentino’s show in Paris for Paris Fashion Week than Derek Zoolander and Hansel walking down the runway to announce the start of filming and the release date for Zoolander 2, the sequel to the 2001 comedy Zoolander.
The massive fashion event had Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson reprise their respective male model characters for a long-awaited reunion. Pretty smart marketing from Paramount Pictures to get the two actors involved in Fashion Week in Paris. Hit the jump to check out some of the photos.
With the new announcement, you can expect more casting news to pop up. In addition to the return of Stiller and Wilson, Will Ferrell and Christine Taylor will also reprise their respective roles. It is also being rumored that Penelope Cruz and supermodel Cara Delevingne as well as Jonah Hill have roles in the sequel.
Paramount also announced that Zoolander 2 will be released in theaters on February 12, 2016.
Plans for a follow-up featured had been talked about since 2008, with Stiller working on the script as early as 2010, with Justin Theroux co-writing the script (Theroux will also be directing). Last month, it was revealed that the sequel would film for 12 weeks this Spring in and around the Cinecitta Studios in Rome
