If you are not up to date with The Last Man on Earth, do not venture any further. Spoilers!

Phil (Will Forte) and Carol (Kristen Schaal) had just gotten married and were in the “honeymoon” phase. No, really. She started showing that she can have weird fun too (we kinda knew she was capable). They were getting along smashingly, and then Phil plowed the car into a moving limo driven by Melissa (January Jones). She thinks the couple is spacey and weird, even for the-world-has-ended standards, but starts to like their quirks towards the end of the “Sweet Melissa” episode. These two do grow on you.

The Last Man on Earth 1.5 “Dunk the Skunk” and 1.6 “Some Friggin’ Fat Guy” review: “Dunk the Skunk” is a literal title. You don’t need high inference powers to know that Phil is the skunk. He put “Plan Repopulation” into selfish effect, proposing in an overdramatic fake crying jag that he needs to have babies with both Carol and Melissa. That Phil is so selfless. All the while, a fancy car is speeding down a lonesome highway following the “Alive in Tucson” signs.

Carol: “We think you should repopulate with Melissa as well.”
Phil: “Is this a trick? It feels like a trick.”

That Carol is a real open-minded gal. I don’t think I would be that generous. But the dramatic, excuse me, comedic irony is that we already know someone else is coming and that someone is male.

Love Carol’s phrases: “Unholy watusi.”

“Some Friggin’ Fat Guy” gives a bit away, but I will say that a fourth person in the mix makes everything even more interesting. It fishbowls for us, the shallowness and selflessness of society, with just these four individuals. Critics of the show are already shouting that it’s not really the last man on earth, they keep adding people, what the hell, etc., but I still maintain that this is the part that is most interesting, seeing who will drive up next. It is just like a Royal Rumble…every new player turns it into a totally different match/show.

What I hope happens in a teaser is that a famous person will come along playing himself/herself, the way we got teased in Revolution when the group went to Vegas and they walked by Bret Michaels playing “Every Rose Has It’s Thorn” on acoustic guitar.
