The cast of X-Men: Apocalypse continues to grow with new and fresh faces taking the roles of familiar characters in the franchise. James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Nicolas Hoult and Jennifer Lawrence are all confirmed to return to reprise their respective roles. Lawrence recently opened up about Apocalypse being her last X-Men film, and it’s very likely that this will be McAvoy and Fassbender’s final X-Men film as well. Rose Bryneis also set to return.
Recent castings have revealed that new actors will play characters previously seen in the first three films. Now joining Xavier’s new class will be Jubilation Lee aka Jubilee, who will be played by Lana Condor.
Director Bryan Singer confirmed Lana Condor as the actor to play Juiblee on his Instagram account. Katrina Florece played the first iteration of Jubilee in X-Men. Kea Wong then took her place in X2: X-Men United and X-Men: The Last Stand.
Condor joins Kodi Smit-McPhee (as Nightcrawler – previously played by Alan Cumming in X2), Sophie Turner (as Jean Grey – played by Famke Janssen in previous movies), Tye Sheridan (as Cyclops – previously played by James Marsden), and Alexandra Shipp (as Storm – previously played by Halle Berry). Ben Hardy also has a role in the film, and is rumored to play Angel – previously played by Ben Foster in X-Men: The Last Stand. So with Fassbender, McAvoy, Lawrence, Hoult, and Byrne leaving the franchise by the end of the film, it should be interesting to see if this will be the class we will see in future X-Men films.
But of all the newcomers being added to the franchise, Condor has the least amount of acting experience. Looking at her IMDB page, you will see that there is nothing there. In fact her only credit is X-Men: Apocalypse.
While the Jubilee of the first three films was closer in age to Iceman, Rogue, and Pyro, the events of X-Men: Days of Future Past could have impacted the film’s timeline, which is why she will be joining Cyclops, Jean Grey, Storm, and Nightcrawler.
Oscar Isaac will play the title villain in X-Men: Apocalypse, which opens in theaters on May 27, 2016.
