Helen Mirren

You never know who might appear in the next installment of Universal’s highly entertaining Fast and Furious franchise. Furious 7, directed by James Wan, features Jason Statham, Ronda Rousey, Djimon Hounsou, Tony Jaa, and Kurt Russell, all of whom are great action and sports stars.

We still don’t know much about the future of the franchise, but none other than Academy Award-winning Helen Mirren has expressed an interest appearing in a Fast and Furious film, as a villain. Hit the jump for more.

While doing the press rounds for Woman in Gold, Mirren spoke to Yahoo Movies about her love for Vin Diesel and her great ambition to appear in a Fast and Furious movie as the villain.

“My great ambition is to be in a Fast and Furious movie. I so want to be a mad driver in a Fast and Furious movie. My claim to fame is I always do my own driving “” I was on Top Gear, and I did [my lap] in a very good time. I keep putting it out there, and they never ask me. I’ll be in Fast and Furious 8. I have to say Vin Diesel is brilliant. I love Vin Diesel. He’s a great guy, smart “” I love him. It’s partly because of him I’d like to be in one, but also the driving. I’d also love to do another Red-type movie, because those are such fun to do.”

Mirren would prove to be a most fascinating addition to the franchise. She is one of the most versatile actresses in the industry, and doesn’t let her age define her roles. We’ve already seen that she is capable of being in an action film having already starred in both RED films. She also alluded to her experience on Top Gear, so she will definitely be spending some time behind the wheel if she does sign on for the yet-to-be-confirmed Fast and Furious 8.

As for villain ideas, she could play a criminal mastermind, or maybe the vengeful matriarch of the Shaw family. After hearing what she had to say, it’s hard to imagine her as anything else but a villain.

So would Helen Mirren be a perfect fit for the Fast and the Furious? If she does end up playing a villain, what kind of villain should she be?

Furious 7 opens in theaters on this Friday, April 3.
