Lucifer FOX TV series

Looks like the Devil has moved to the City of Angels.

FOX has just released the first trailer for Lucifer, their new television series premiering in 2016. The show, which is based on the character created by Neil Gaiman in his Sandman comic book series, features Lucifer, the Devil himself, who’s become bored with lording over Hell, so he heads to Earth to Los Angeles to have some fun.

Watch the first 3-minute trailer here below, along with an inside look at the new FOX series.

It was announced back in September that Warner Bros. TV and FOX were creating a Lucifier television series for DC Entertainment. The TV series, which was then given a pilot order this past February, is based on the DC/Vertigo Sandman comic book spinoff by writer Mike Carey. Hot-shot executive producer Jerry Bruckheimer (Pirates Of The Caribbean, National Treasure) and Underworld director Len Wiseman signed on for the series (Wiseman directed the pilot), which was originally supposed to center on Lucifer opening up a piano bar called Lux in Los Angeles. Instead, the show has been turned into a police procedural where the main character gets his kicks helping the LAPD solve crimes.

The first trailer shows how Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis), who, here, seems nothing like his comic book counterpart, having some fun interviewing people, who seem to just want to tell the Lord Of Hell what’s on their minds. Lauren German stars as Chloe Dance, the LAPD detective he’s helping, with Rachael Harris as his therapist and D.B. Woodside as Amenadiel, an angel who comes to LA to try to convince Lucifer to return to Hell.

Lucifer, which has been picked up for the 2015-2016 season with its premiere scheduled for 2016, will join Warner Bros. TV’s other DC universe television shows: Fox’s Gotham; The CW’s Arrow, The Flash, and their planned spinoff Legends Of Tomorrow, as well as iZombie; and NBC’s recently cancelled Constantine (which is looking for a new network home), as well as the planned series for Supergirl at CBS, Titans at TNT, and Krypton at Syfy.
