Fans of Honest Trailers can rest easy, the day we’ve waited for is here. It’s Avengers: Age of Ultron Day!!! The dudes at Screen Junkies managed to do something even AAOU could not do… meet our overly high expectations! Narrator Jon Bailey once again sees into my soul and recites nearly everything I’ve said, complained, and whined about since Marvel started its “Cinematic Universe” back in 2008 with the original Ironman.
Watch the Honest Trailer below.
He immediately harps on the thing that also bugged me about second/third phase MCU films – The Avengers only assemble when it’s time for an Avengers movie! They left Iron Man out to dry in part 3 where Tony Stark nearly died, nearly let millions die in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and forgot to care about the entire universe in Thor: The Dark World. But it’s okay, because this movie has AVENGERS in the title! Then they move onto poor Joss Whedon (not poor in money, poor in feelings hurt). Whedon was at odds with the studio who made tons of demands, and yet he manages to set up the entire next 5 years of Marvel movies! According to Bailey, Whedon has pulled out of the Infinity Wars sequels, quit Twitter, and has no projects listed… “I think we just broke Joss Whedon” I personally volunteer for “Hug Joss Whedon” duty, btw.
Then we get into the new characters including the knockoff version of Quicksilver… I mean c’mon, if you saw X-Men DOFP, it’s not even a comparison, Evan Peters for the win. Scarlet Witch, who kinda is just there to be Quicksilver’s sister and trigger Avengers fights, and Vision, who comes from… a highly convoluted series of plot devices that don’t really make sense after thinking about them twice”¦ but he was awesome and Paul Bettany was perfect. And then Ultron… who despite cool trailers, continues to not be able to hold a torch to Tom Hiddleston’s Loki. It’s amazing when you think about it. Dark Knight had Heath Ledger’s Oscar winning Joker, and followed that with an epic performance from Tom Hardy as Bane. In all the MCU, they’ve had one great villain and that’s it! They blew an opportunity with Mandarin, but don’t get me started on that one! Well at least we have Thanos to look forward to…
Starring… Mr. Rogers, So that’s what Andy Serkis looks like, Super Siri, and Skynet… new title, Avengers: Roughly One Week of Ultron. Avengers: Age of Ultron is available for $19.99 on Blu-Ray/DVD combo pack on Amazon or on Amazon Instant for the same price. The MCU will continue sending out more movies to set up bigger movies next year with Captain America: Civil War coming out in May. Screen Junkies currently have over 4.7 million subscribers on YouTube, and they release a new Honest Trailer every Tuesday.
