People recording their reactions to a trailer has become a part of the geek/social media culture. Depending on said reaction, it may even go viral. Of course not all trailers warrant a video recorded reaction, but in the case of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, everyone seems to be doing it, and it looks like film stars Daisy Ridley and John Boyega have caught onto the latest craze.
Last night the first full trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens aired during halftime of Monday Night Football. As you can imagine, many fans were just waiting for the game clock to reach to zero, or just hoped that Sam Bradford would run out the clock. But when the time came to air that trailer. And as you can expect, the trailer drew quite an emotional reaction. But it’s Ridley and Boyega’s priceless reactions that really says it all. Check them out in the videos below.
Well their reactions couldn’t be more different but both as overwhelmingly positive. I’m not here to judge or break it down, because it’d be a disservice. But watching their reactions, I realize, that I pretty much felt the same way when I was watching it live. It was really an exciting two minutes of my life. But enough about me, I’ll let Boyega’s (who plays Finn) reaction speak for itself.
But Ridley (who plays Rey) had a very different reaction to the trailer, but you get a sense of what she is feeling as the person recording at very different points of the trailer giving us very different (but emotionally enthusiastic) responses.
It comes as no surprise that most, if not all of us reacted similarly to Ridley or Boyega. Watching others on social media, there are a few who were overcome with emotion, while others’ jaws dropped to the floor.
Be sure to check out our breakdown of the trailer, as we discuss what we saw, and speculate why things were missing.
