When Tuesday came and went without a new Honest Trailer from Screen Junkies, I didn’t think too much of it. Now it all makes sense. Back in 1989, Back to the Future Part II sent Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) to the future… October 21, 2015 to be precise. By the time you read this article, that date, the actual date will be the past. 26 years after hoverboards, flying Deloreans, and Grays Sports Almanac became parts of the lexicon of American cinema, we finally get the Back to the Future trilogy Honest Trailer!
Watch it here below!
Narrator Jon Bailey and the writers continue to hit every right mark. First, they tackle the similarities between the three movies plots. “The one where they travel to the past, beat up the bully, fix the future, and set up the sequel…” What is it Old Biff says in BTTF 2: “There’s something very familiar about all this.”
We meet Marty, your average 80’s teenager who must travel from [inhales deeply] … 1985 to 1955 to 1985 to 2015 to dystopian 1985, to 1955, 1885, then back to 1985…[deep breath]. Of course there’s Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd), who never seemed really creepy or totally crazy until this minute, as he uses his pets in dangerous science experiments, steals nuclear weapons from terrorists, and builds an amazing time machine out of one of the world’s crappiest cars. Speaking of creepy, how about Marty’s teenage mom totally wanting her own son, and then not even realizing her son looks just like that guy she liked in high school! And what the HELL was Doc Brown’s younger son doing on the train!!! But you’ll be fine with all that because they pretty much nailed the future, what with 3D sequels, 80s nostalgia, and video screen communications. I mean, it’s not like anyone really wanted a hoverboard…. right…?
STARRING: Donald Trump (Biff), Billy Zane… really, legit musician cameos, and Hot Car Time Machine… New Title – “Doc & Marty’s Excellent Adventure.”
Want to feel old… we are as far away time wise from the release of the original Back to the Future as Marty was from 1955… yikes! Screen Junkies has over 4.8 million subscribers on YouTube and release a new Honest Trailers every Tuesday… unless Wednesdays or other days hold special significance.
