The Flash First Look: Melissa Benoist as Supergirl

It’s happening! While crossovers in The CW TV universe are almost expected at this point, a crossover between CBS’s Supergirl and any of The CW shows have neither been done nor talked about.

Until now.

The Flash will be crossing over into Supergirl next month!

More below.

Although both shows are owned by the same parent company, share most of the same creators, and have generated a lot of viewer support, there has been no real indication that any of our Central and Star City favorites would visit National City.

That awesomeness will happen in Supergirl‘s March 28th episode. No details about why Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) would end up crossing paths with Kara (Melissa Benoist), but I really can’t wait to see him interact with Cat, Winn, Hank, and especially Maxwell (Calista Flockhart, Jeremy Jordan, David Harewood, and Peter Facinelli).

Now that Barry and the gang in Central City are about to hang out in Earth-2 (Earth-1 according to Harry), it won’t seem so out of the realm of possibilities that there’s a place where SuperPeople fly around saving all the humans. Since… we have not heard of them before in Arrow or Flash.

Creators Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg said in a statement to Deadline:

“We are so incredibly excited to announce something that we have dreamed of happening since we starting making Supergirl. We want to thank Grant Gustin for making the time to come visit (on top of his already immense workload) and all of the folks at CBS, The CW, Warner Bros. and DC for working this out. And finally thanks to the fans and journalists who have kept asking for this to happen. It is our pleasure and hope to create an episode worthy of everyone’s enthusiasm and support.”

Personally, I’m having a SuperGleek moment at having these two Glee alumni share a show again.

The Flash airs Tuesday nights at 8:00pm ET on The CW. Supergirl airs Monday nights at 8:00pm ET on CBS.

  1. I am not a fan, simply because it disrupts the established continuity from the existing Arrow/Flash universe, in which it was soundly established early on superpowers were unheard of, meaning there was no Superman or Supergirl in that universe. Super powers weren’t introduced until the Star Labs explosion, and have been explained as meta-humans. Additionally, unless I’ve missed something, there’s been no mention of alien existence, either.

  2. Good point, but they probably will find a way to justify it.DC is always doing reboots to its continuity.

  3. I understand. The spin is that National City and Metropolis exist in Earth-2. Earth-2 Wells points out that his is Earth-1 to him. And if you watched The Flash tonight you get a glimpse of that proof.
